That's what I used to do for a long time. As long as the moisture isn't excessive, it's a transparent method.
Obviously merchants can point to a bag and say there's no disputing what you're buying, if they're selling a ( fairly ) constant size of log, especially if they're not too big. Most customers are likely to want logs that require no further splitting or cutting, so that's another scenario which is transparent.
It's only people like me who want a non standard commodity who upset the applecart. It was ever thus. ?
Putting a load of split ready to burn logs over a weighbridge just ain't going to happen, if you want a non standard commodity buy round wood in and store/ split it as you see fit.

As I used to do, many moons ago, when there was a timber yard near me. In these modern, mechanised times, the local log merchant uses metre cubed bags and a hoist. No more chucking each log off by hand for them!
How do you suggest it changes, every load over a weighbridge?

The problem I have with volume measurements is fresh air. I contacted a local supplier to ask for a price for larger sized logs for my boiler. I wasn't offered a significant discount, even though I'd expect to get less material in the same sized 1cubic metre bag if it were cut larger. Now if I were allowed to take my Ifor into their yard, and stack it carefully myself with logs, I'd expect I could get a very good deal for me, based on the ( very roughly ) two cubic metre capacity of the trailer with sides.
I suppose, it would be interesting and informative to buy two of their bags, and then arrange them in the floor of my trailer, just to see how they compared. Sadly, I don't have the spare cash to try this.
Normally firewood is sold by the loose load.

I always keep models as tools go missing around my area quite a lot and occasionally get my own tools offered back for £40-£50 with the seller not knowing they were mine to start with ??

There in lays the sickener, 600 quid saws being sold for £40-£50. I'm not sure which winds me up more, the thieves nicking them or other tradesmen buying them.

Now you've said that it could have been a 410 that I did the Transit job on, I take about as much notice of tool model numbers as a do car model numbers, none whatsoever. I do remember it being a costly bit of reversing though.

I'd pull the plug check the spark and if sparing OK put some fuel down plug hole if it fires and runs its fuel related if not somethi g more serious chuck on ebay spares or repair and just buy new the ts420 looks a good saw

I've got the 420, cracking saw. I replaced it for a 400 that I reversed over... Don't ask!

How is that scare mongering ? It is a very high profile case with huge implications for subbies in all industries.
Who killed who? Yes, it is a high profile case, it was posted here a while back. It doesn't have any affect on Bona fida contractors that are working "as and when". The problem comes when people take the p1$$.

plumber kills Subbies!? Go on explain that one.
Some on here won't take their blinkers off and look at it from both sides. Yes he's had good money, and so have Pimlico, the problem is, neither wanted to give when it came to things moving on. Most of us realise he was employed and both sides were in it for the most profit, at least that's how the court saw it.
If he was doing ad hoc days for the same company it would never have come to light.
Scare momgering doesnt benefit trade.
