  1. The Rosselli one is only marketed by Oxdale, manufactured in Italy. I would not trust a saw made by Oxdale after a bad experience with one of their log splitters. Came with an incorrect manual, the device to stop the PTO pump turning was a short length of totally inadequate length of weak chain and very little clearance made fitting or removing the pump a very painful and often bloody experience. In my opinion not fit for the CE mark on it.
  2. Toyota powered log splitter ! TOYOTA SURF LOG SPLITTER | eBay UK Take a look at his Youtube video as well.
  3. I read something recently about the CE mark on stuff that complies with applicable European Union directives. The Chinese were sending stuff to the EU with slightly different CE logos but looked enough like the genuine one to fool most people who aren't familiar with the proper CE mark and rules. When asked they said it stood for China Export ! I was speaking to a guy in Cheshire recently who makes very good log splitters - he said he couldn't compete with the stuff from shitters-r-us as people would prefer to save a few pounds by buying junk. Looks familiar ?
  4. typical Chinese build quality. I bought a Chinese pole hedge trimmer with a swappable chainsaw head, off Ebay. First time I use it, it p1ssed 2 stroke all over my leg. Seller wasn't keen to send a replacement filler cap until I reported him to his local trading standards. Soon after the bolt to tighten the chainsaw stripped the threads in the hole it went into, steel into aluminium.... So I got rid of it on Ebay and bought Stihl, twice the price but light years ahead in quality. Its like those Chinese compact tractors all over Ebay now, people are taken in by the reasonable price and the bright shiny look of them. But the build quality under the shiny plastic is poor. I watched a demo one being started at a smallholders show last year and it sounded and ran really rough. I was considering a Chinese quad but think I will stick with my Hondas.
  5. I tried one of those compressed sawdust blocks the other week, the one wrapped in waxy sort of paper that you light at each end. It burnt slowly once it got going, very little heat output and after a while it disintegrated into sawdust which just sparked and fizzled out into a black mass of useless dust. A £2.75 waste of money, luckily I got it for free along with some other samples of wood fire combustibles.
  6. anyone tried these ? BAG Supplies :: Packaging Suppliers covering the UK, Europe and North America
  7. Thanks but that is a fair way away. Was hoping for somone more local.
  8. I have noticed some firewood sellers on Ebay describing a 900mm x 900mm x 900mm builders bag of logs as a "ton of firewood". A builders bag might hold a ton of gravel or sand but a ton of wood ? But then maybe its a ton of wood and water !
  9. This might be of interest to anyone local to Runcorn. 10 tonne of cut wood for £300 on buy it now or £200 if no one else bids....... Firewood Logs 10 Tonne on eBay (end time 14-Dec-10 15:54:45 GMT)
  10. Thanks I did some googling and came up with this company Polybuild Gallery Livestock - Sheep and lambing shelters Just got off the phone to them, very helpful and friendly. Sounds ideal for my requirements and as they are near Portsmouth will be ideal for getting over to my gaff in Brittany.
  11. that looks interesting, just what I need. Was it a one off or are they on there regularly ?
  12. When I said big tractor, it was in comparison to my 18hp Yanmar. I just bought a 65 HP Renault 4wd, an oldie but a solid old thing for £3000 and no VAT as private sale.
  13. I got my MS441 C-M with a 25 inch bar for £670, including VAT TFM Farm and Country Store for all your Agriculture, Industrial, Domestic DIY and Service Centre needs

  18. Whoops ! I didn't read this thread first, sorry. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/firewood-forum/20520-best-kindling-machine.html Also should of mentioned I want PTO powered.
  19. No, not a new magazine but I would like to ask you good people the opinions for and against different brands of kindling machines. I am looking at the Kindlet and the Posch autosplit. In my very inexpert opinion the pros and cons for my requirements are: The Kindlet handles offcuts as well as rounds but bagging looks to be a real pain. The Posch is easier with bagging but only handles or square chunks of wood. I welcome the opinion of all on here as it would be a major purchase and I want to get it right first time. If there are other brands that might be better please let me know. Thanks all !!!
  20. Hi Bit of a long shot but can anyone in the Ruthin area of North Wales bark for ground cover, larger chips so they won't blow away. Cheers
