  1. Forgot to mention my two previous mowers Honda roller. Not good in the wet and a Stiga scan recycler both had sane engine as the Etesia and I never had a problem with their engines. I might contact Honda uk to find out if there is any valid reason a 2013 lawn mower should have these problems as Etesia say.
  2. Been 10 months nearly with this mower. It begining to become unreliable. I emailed Etesia after the latest part broke due to metal fatigue. Other problems have been carb replacement, cable breaking or needing oiling. Blades wear rate, deck has become badly pitted, wet grass clogs to underneath and gets bnged up in exit shuts, Got a call yesterday from Ian at Etesia. To say they want to wash there hands of any responsibility is an understatement. Its a shame as its a nice work horse just not keen to have to replace it every year. Ethanol in fuel is reason they say Honda engine is being troublesome !! Told to use an additive. Clogging apparently is due to shear washer having sheared. Will be checking on Monday when stripping mower down to repair again. I am having to do my own servicing and repairs as need thia mower for busy workload. As Etesia service centres do not have time unless prepared to leave mower with them for 2 weeks minimum !! Latest fatigue failure is due to my pro 46 PHTS (bought as biocut was too heavy to lift in 46cm size). Ian did not know which part I was referring to. Its the bracket that holds the spring by the handle. OK it might just be a sheared screw but I never had problems with previous professional machines. Now that the drive is not working I am considering a push mower as much faster to work with and would be lighter so could maybe go with a better machine. Mate just said reference addivite in fuel seems a cop out to or they are using older engines in their builds. Peter.
  3. Sorry just to confirm bought the proven Pro 46 Honda engine no brake model, as salesman said it worked in the wet ! And is not as heavy as the hernia giving heavy weight the new one is if you have to pick it up, or move it up stone steps.
  4. OK so had this mower a few weeks now, already on 2nd blade. And yes it does clog up in wet grass, as much as a Honda roller. Main problem is the wet grass clangs to the under deck, and the box clogs up with wet cuttings - great if can hose it down no good if you can't. But the clogging up between the blade and the under deck is most annoying as your post led me to believe this does not happen. Bearing in mind I have done all my customers over past few weeks solely with this mower. From posh £2m properties down council house owners. Only snag is they all prefer the quality of cut compared to my other mowers, so a, kinda stuck with a mower I am not happy with. Peter.
  5. 62 kg wow that's heavy. Spoke to Etesia uk again, and even they had to go weigh it. 41kg without box.
  6. Sorry nearly forgot, might not be able to get into LEZ if not post 2002 td5 BTW!
  7. If its 1985 its was a naturally asphixiated diesel so, sound like someone has changed the engine. You should be able to get a 200 or 300tdi disco quite cheaply just swap the engines, as mate to same gearbox. Original 200tdi Defender would of had the turbo at same height as top of heater, if its a disco lump turbo is low down, so be careful wading, if that's your thing. Dakar on Birch wood road are probably your nearest for spares. Get glow plugs replaced first though. Peter.
  8. Yep that's why we are insured with NFU, they don't muck you about if you need to claim. Sorry to hear your having no joy with DL, seems it's changed a lot fro, when I worked there before the RBS takeover then the privatisation.
  9. Odd I wonder if someone had made a typo as the next model down the Duocut 46 RMCS is 36kg according to the website - where I wonder did the extra 9 kg come from the Honda 160 engine can't be that much heavier - perhaps its a cast iron deck ? Oh wells got a demo Saturday so can see then, think might call lone office chap up and confirm this. Peter
  10. Apparently this is new out this week. Kinda got put on the scent of Etesia is the need for a non clogging mower that will work in the wet - after last years weather!! Anyway spoke to Etesia uk today. Got a felling its one guy a desk and a sales sheet, he convinced me this was the one to go for the new 46 RMHB. Currently i use a Stiga Pro Svan 53 and or a the smaller Honda Roller mower 426 I think, for collection. Both mine are about 34kg max. Just read the spec for the new Etesia, and its 45 kg !! As a one man lift thats heavy imho and wet grass that will sink into the ground and leave tracks. Not good as the other Pro46 models are same weight as my current ones which are heavy enough. Has anyone any recommendations from their experience with the Pro 46 of which ones to get and which to avoid. The online (Utube) vids seem to suggest the front end is a tad light ?? Also are these the best collection mowers to use in the rain for wet lawns (on prestigious lawns) - if not what it ? Thanks Peter

    bindweed.

Love bindweed, takes ages to dig out roots. Prefer ground elder though, as is more fun to trace the root system, also looks good for the customer. Ok admit it am a tad sad, but beats working in an office.
  12. Whilst this topic is about Oregon chains, I just ruined my new (2nd use) Powersharp chain. Got squished, and jumped off the bar - It happens (probably did not notice it needed tightening up. Anyway noticed when went to put it back on the lower part of some of the chain toes have been cracked off. This not only means it won't go round the end of the bar very well, but as its burred the metal, on the chain it won't fit in the bar. Did not even get to do the fun re-sharpening.
  13. Yeah Frosty good plan. Actually found a photo just now:
  14. Got an ISC mini rope grab, to fit on my flip line. Possibly a dumb question but which way round does it go on the flip line I can only assume the UP needs to point to the locking device on the flip line. Also I assume I have to remove bolt to install ? There are no instructions with it, or any on ISC website which is a shame. Also what is the length of plastic coming out of the rope grab to the rope locking device actually for.
  15. Not any chat about these on here for a year. My collegue and I are looking to get a pair of these for our Stein helmets, does anyone know if they have been improved since last year. Esp. does the cable to the other ear go over or under the helmet or is this a mod you need to do yourselves ? Had a demo at the FR Jones show the other month as was well impressed. One of the trainees on the CS38 training course at Kingswood this week reckons they only work in line of sight. Has anyone experience of them working from back of a property to front with chipper in full flow ? As there are only two of us it would be handy not to have to wait 25 minutes for the assigned groundee for the day to return to retrieve a dropped silky for instance. Cheers Peter
  16. Wish I had read this thread before the question and answer session today. Only got up to page 16... You did really well so assume I need to add some extra reading into this weekend as well as practicing chucking the bag of lead shot into the canopy - wish I could remember the technical terms though. Peter
