  1. Ah I see. However that mower is still going fine with no fautls at all and am looking at a new roller.

My name isn't Mike though. Not sure where that came from? I know ploggs called me mike/gus at various points for whatever reason, but neither of those are correct.

Thank you though. And if I do need a new 4 wheeler in the future it will almost certainly be another Stiga:thumbup1:

what is your name then ? im mike lol:thumbup:

  2. My understanding is you are wanting to sharpen the gullet of the tooth as well as the cutting edge. This is not necessary, as the only part of the tooth which is cutting is the 1mm or so which is proud of the depth gauge. The rest of the tooth is really just there to support the top edge. The gullets do need to be dressed occasionally, as they help channel the chips and dust out of the cut. Sound to me like you are doing it right. Is your chain cutting well? Are the depth gauges filed to the proper depth?

That's my understanding, if I'm wrong, I hope someone will correct me. Cheers, Hairy.

i was going to say if your chain is cutting well you're on the money:thumbup:

  3. Ive recently changed to the lawnflite pro high speed 21 "what a cracking bit of kit, picks up really well in the wet,bit skippy in the wet with the smooth roller tho, 5.5 honda engine gives loads of grunt and i tweaked mine a bit and now im nearly running behind it, heavy mower so you will need a ramp into van/pick up, nice control and it gives a lovely finish.

ive used pretty much every roller mower out there and this is the best by far

    mike

  4. I'm usually selling chippers or trucks when I'm done through with them constantly breaking down and feeling the same, Last chipper I sold I was glad to see the back of it!

I regret selling my G wagon though... And a mint 288 xp but needs must.

with you on that one, i sold a pair of 288xp's, miss those old bad boys

  5. not doubting spud in anyway but could also be sawdust in your rim sprocket/clutch/brake band area,if used in the wet could be clutch bearing gone a bit rusty and combined with the sawdust could be causing the problem, ive had this a few times

  6. Hi Mike, I am after a rear handle/fuel tank for a 181/281 if you have got one.

    Mark

i havent looked yet but if i have its yours mate, and if you can wait till the end of february, im staying at wast bay for the weekend, ill bring it down with me

  7. blimey that takes me back, i learnt to ride on a tomahawk, progressed to a chipper then to a chopper.mate had a striker !

2 of us in our gang had choppers, 2 had grifters (heavy things) and the rest had assorted racers and made up contraptions.

the lads that had racers etc got put in the hole and their patch burnt lol

  8. Well that's the way it ought to be (provided the item is as described) but online auctions have changed the dynamic.

Places like ebay have opened auctions to the masses which unfortunately includes any number of people willing to "cock on a deal"

i sold a pole belt on ebay, went for 99p, but my young lab pup decided to have a chomp on it, messaged buyer and told him what had happened, but he was having none of it , to quote "we are not in the classroom " was genuine, my pup really did chew it up, ie wouldnt be safe so cancelled the sale, its still in the shed if he wants it lol

  9. Great bits of kit, the 32 is a lump ,used a mates to pull a nasty old oak that had split, not recommended but have a bit of scaffold tube for extra pulling power lol, and dont use the hook back around the cable, use a strop etc (grandmother and eggs)

    Buy one !
