  1. But everything is always going downhill fast. That is media spin. It sells content. It's how news services make you come back for more. The Nazis told how Germany was going downhill fast in the last century. With the benefit of hindsight, I am not too sure I agree with them.
  2. It will become a fact if: A) you can give me a succinct definition of 'British values'. B) you can summarise how the candidates values differ. Seems like a bit of a faff, but if you can be bothered, I am happy to read 'em Up untill that time, I am of the opinion that what you wrote is just your opinion. Are you keeping up?
  3. What on earth do you mean 'it states'? If you attempt to read the words more carefully you will see it is asking a question. To help you out they even popped in a question mark. I think what you have done is interpreted the picture and formed what is called 'an opinion'. Unfortunately for you, your opinion is just that.... yours. States indeed!
  4. Hang about, are you telling me you think none of those candidates are british born? That's priceless. Some people drag themselves up to greatness in this world, whilst others sit about whining.
  5. On this we agree. Many people will read you posts and agree with what you write. What we differ on is that in reality, many more people read your posts and silently disagree. I would think more again read you post's and don't give a flying stuff either way. The vast majority avoid your rubbish because they have a life. In summary, it's the minority that agree with you in my opinion. Show me why you think my summary is wrong, and I will show you why I think it's right.
  6. But it's not an argument, you fool, it's a fact. In order to disprove my fact, let's have the dates when there was no immigration to these Isles. I also challenge you to show me where I called you a troll. You keep banging on about it, so go on, show me.
  7. Errrrr. If it wasn't for migration, the UK would be uninhabited though, wouldn't it. Regardless of how much breeding with their cousins someone gets involved with, you can't escape the fact that Homo sapiens are not exactly a native species to these Isles. Maybe your point would be less ridiculous if you popped in some kind of 'migration' time frame to help support it.
  8. I don't think i'll hold my breath, if its all the same to you. First (apparently) I was told the Jews would take over Britain and destroy our way of life. Then it's going to be Afro Caribbeans. I next hear on good authority that Pakistanis will take over all we hold dear. Vietnamese boat people will be the next. Then apparently the Soviets will nuke us. Now you tell me it's North Africans. Are you telling me that all those previous bigots were wrong? If all these immigrants don't hurry up and make their move, I am going to miss it due to my advancing years.
  9. The UK you appear to see is not the one I witness. I can't comment on media bias on TV, as I haven't owned a telly since 2006. If either of us have been 'brainwashed' by what they have seen on the BBC or Channel 4, I am afraid it is you. You need to stop accepting the rubbish people are using to misguide you, and start to open up your mind and think for yourself.
  10. So... ...he travels about a bit for work... ...he is into the tarmac trades... ...he is up for a bit of temporary accommodation... ...yet he hangs about in an Arboricultural forum... Nahhh, I am sure it's nuffin.
  11. .... I sometimes wonder if there is a 'supremacist' forum somewhere in the world where some member only seems to exist to bang on about his chainsaw obsession....
  12. I think it will cost them £5.50 a metre (if you fancy doing the maths).
  13. I don't believe it would be appropriate to use it instead of a 'krab' on a main line attachment. I would, however, use it with a short length of rope as a lanyard. As it has it's 'own unique id, ' I can't we anyone but the most pedantic of LOLER examiners having an issue with this.
  14. I think harness choice is very personal. I have used a Petzl Navaho in commercial utilityarb for years..... Day in, day out. Despite only getting it for my Aerial rescuer, I have preferred it over my komet dragonfly and stein harness. I would describe my climbing style as 'scamperer', rather than 'sack of spuds'. My harness is used as mitigation should I slip, rather than a means of support. I have recently stated using a Avao (as a replacement to my ageing Navaho), and I find it utterly superb. Horses for courses, I suppose!
  15. Good god I'm naff! I used to just do mine with a belt sander
  16. Its a piece of cake. Most important part of "Session 1 - day 2" of a CS38 training course in my opinion. I have never had a candidate that couldn't do it (as long as thay wanted to )
  17. Hmmmmmmm Rich, sounds nasty. Option 1 as I see it..... Buy loads of shiney shiney things and keep evolving and refining your kit for the rest of your climbing life (or until the cash runs out). Option2. Change nothing EXCEPT master the art of footlocking. If your problem stems from the technique you are using to get up the rope (as opposed to stemming from when you are moving about in the canopy) then footlocking is what you need. In my experiance, it takes less than 45mins to really get the nack of it.
  18. Lantra (currently) provide training courses. NPTC (currently) do the assessing. Having completed Lantra training (other trainers are available ) you would be expected to do an independant NPTC assessment. (Currently)
  19. and yes Jen, if you are reading this this, I WAS only looking at her smile!
  20. No worries dude, you won't wind me up. In its defence, the thread is worth it simply for the clip of Michelle Jenneke! What a wonderful smile, and truckloads of confidence. THAT is why the Olympics is a good thing- inspire a generation:thumbup:.
  21. Sorry Will, the clue was in the title - I shouldn't have posted. Anyway, as your thread has asked my opinon, here it is: I think this is a shameful thread, populated by a load of shameless posters (except those on Rupes list and Rupe himself (AND Tommy B of course ). Just my opinion though
  22. Well Will, Here's a dig for you Why start a moaning thread about wall to wall coverage. now you are as guilty as the media of talking it to death.
  23. @ John Shulter A simple and seemingly unoffensive question....... ........ Yet this comes across as a rather hostile reply. Is this called ganging up on the new boy? I thought mods were always banging on about on-line bullying? Then I see that you, John, are a Mod!!?!! So much for arbtalk being the friendly place to find out stuff. I wouldn't blame Jack if he kept his questions to himself in future. Is there some history between you and Jack (I see you are both from the same county) or is it just that he isn't part of the arbtalk in-crowd?
  24. Cheers Pommie, you are more useful than google.
  25. Have they gone completely? Are they elsewhere on the interweb? I scratched about on the City and Guilds website for a while but found nothing. Where will I cut-and-paste from if they are a thing of the past.....
