  1. Check the real ones out. The real berroca men. - Arbtalk.co.uk | Discussion Forum for Arborists
  2. That's right firewood man, the green good looking one!
  3. Check out the real barroca men having a dance in between felling. http://video.l3.fbcdn.net/cfs-l3-ash4/342034/733/10150477227460280_14158.mp4?oh=d9d9b3322c816875551c2dfd1c1dd74c&oe=4ED64300&l3s=20111128064144&l3e=20111130065144&lh=05e991146d51fe53aff06
  4. Try how high or far. Good for measuring trees!
  5. Well last night after reading all the forecasts for this winter and mixing in a bit of my own amateur weather forecasting I came up with my prediction for snow. Armed with my forecast I went to my local and told everyone that in our area it was going to snow around about Dec 20th. Everyone laughed and accused me of spreading this rumour to increase my firewood sales. I simply replied "I've almost sold out!" Shock, shock, horror! Everyone panicked! Took six orders there and then, rumour has spread and took another nine today! Now I'm praying for snow or I'll be hung drawn and quartered!
  6. My two mutts refusing to get out of the landy, out into the rain. Tell them were off to the mountains, then the weathers not an issue, tell them we got work to do and it's two paws up!
  7. It looks like those rules only apply to the city, the lines which come off the post are about 14ft and drop to about 12ft. I'll be ringing WPD tomorrow. I'm going to check my deeds if the poles on my land I'll ask them to remove it and bury the lines,
  8. Cheers Nick, I'll check with length of batten.
  9. Nick, I take it you have your own artic with crane. A different question if I may, I'm getting my loads droped off on a nearby farm because the power lines into my field seem a little low. What's the maximum height you load to. I'm going to try and get the power company to check the lines are at the correct height 33kv lines. Id have two loads but I'm down near Chepstow.
  10. Does any one use them? Bought one a while ago at the west of England show. Saves your back, easy to move timber on sacks with, sliding timber to processor or simply picking up small logs. Off to get a longer one! Oh and it's great at picking of the rats in the log pile!
  11. Well I hope they don't look in my wheelie bin, last time I looked the misses was still in there screaming, thank god it's rated at 97db!
  12. Perhaps it's the rating for when the bin men drag it down the road and slam the lid closed @ 6am in the morning!
  13. Cheers Firewood man! He's a little to close for my softwood pile!
  14. Owen, Where in South Wales are you, it's a pretty big area!
  15. A, It's the trailer plate, I'll check the landy, I know when I was running an ex MOD 110 it could tow a wee bit more. For some reason ive got it into my head it'l pull three tons! Like you, if your used to towing and stick within the speeds most loads can be pulled around quite safely, low gears for big loads. Still regularly tow the big trailer in my profile pic around the city, usually loaded up to the top of the bolsters but there again the tractor will can legally only do 24mph.
  16. I got it at an ex demo price from Riko, done the deal at the South west England woodland fair at Longlet. It was two hundred quid short of 11k.
  17. 110 300tdi with uprated springs and shocks. Checked my lit on the plate it will take 2570kg and it's gross weight is 3500kg. I do sometimes put a bit much on it but it travels well and the landy pulls it with no problem.
  18. I looked at the Atlas then saw the Brian James Range with it's three ton carrying capacity. Tows great with five cubes on the back, mesh sides, electric tipping six wheels and all Ali sides. Not cheap but well worth it
  19. Not long bought a WP36 from Riko, it's got a 15hp petrol engine and PTO drive. It's eats wood like now ones business. It's easy to operate with one hand and it's two speed splitter is great on hardwood. You can angle the conveyer so making four piles all join up is no problem. The only down side is the price of petrol. It's easy to tow and can be moved around by one person. The log lift is great but the small heavy logs are difficult to roll onto the cutting shelf. The longer the log the better.
  20. Only doing local deliveries now say within five miles and I hide the cost of delivery in my cost per cube but tell the customer delivery is free! So there getting good quality dry firewood at a good price with free delivery, or so they think.
  21. Usually pulled by my land rover 110 with uprated springs trailer takes two and a half tonnes with no problem at all. The rodeo does struggle but it only does the pub run!
  22. I'm doing Larch, Causican and Scots pine, western red cedar, Douglas fir, Sitka basically what ever comes out of FC land. As long as its dry and you don't start getting sloppy and giving wet wood out.
  23. Well I've been charging £220, it's because I've got socialist beliefs, but I've heard the capitalists are buying my cheap wood and selling it on! I might now put it up to £225!!! I was even thinking of asking £250! I give the local pub "mates rates" simply because it's the last delivery of the day and a taxi home!!!
  24. Forgot to say it's softwood, tipped in one mighty big pile. All bone dry.
  25. In order to slow demand I'm thinking of increasing my charges! Before I reveille my price what do you think this five cubic metre load is worth? Answers on a post card please. Calls cost no more than 50p etc etc etc.
