  1. as long as the pitch and gauge on the new chain is the same you will be ok, if the pitch is different then you will need to get a new sprocket for it
  2. I'm spending only £600 a year to advertise in a free local paper and its worked a treat, I guess 60% comes from the paper and the last 40% is word of mouth, van details or returning customers
  3. I'm looking to buy a GD105 from them some time in the future, I have their 2010 price book but I was wondering if anyone knows when they revise and update their prices?
  4. first pictures of a lightning strike with the fungus setting in afterwards maybe?
  5. can you post a link to the company in Canada, I'm interested in modifying my 361 while i have some time on my hands
  6. I assume every member of the public is an idiot unless I know otherwise, I have seen so many people do the stupidest things despite barriers, warning signs and verbal warnings. Until the foolish are made to wear bells then I'll continue to think like this. sorry if that's a bit harsh but I hope you know what i mean from a safety perspective, 99.99% of people are great regardless of the fact they have just strolled into your felling
  7. I'm still laughing at this, Its made my day too, lets hope clients don't follow us here!
  8. I have to pay my local waste site £18 a ton to get rid of my green waste. Unfortunately I have only managed 500Kg of green waste in the back of the van (what a sight it is!)
  9. think what I will be like when I'm 40, Bring it on!!
  10. I have the kit and knowledge to make up a few land mines if that helps?? that will stop the little buggers from coming back
  11. My BR600 leaf blower does this once I refuel it sometimes, I'm not sure what causes it but I find If i gently feather the throttle i can get it to slowly pick revs up again, after about a minute its blowing like a champ again. I would be happy too if anyone else could shed some more light on this issue
  12. I'm only 24, bet you thought I was older no apologise needed. Thankyou everyone for your kind words, I have just found out that they will be using radiotherapy to start treating the cancer in her spine tomorrow they will also take a sample of the one in her liver too. I'm naturally a very quiet person, I find it easier to express myself with written words than speak them, odd huh! what does not kill me only makes me stronger
  13. Firstly I'll say I'm writing this as a outlet, There are some things which have to be said but cannot be expressed with spoken words alone. The year till now has gone well, with the mild weather clients are thinking about work in their gardens earlier than last year after the snow we had in the new forest, for the first time since I became self employed two years ago I have a full working week for this time of year, It feels like spring has already arrived. plans have been made for equipment purchases later in the year - I'm buying a £2,600 GD106 Ifor Williams trailer later on - among many other pieces of equipment (£5000+ in total) and for the first time I should make a profit so I can put money away for savings and hopefully a trip to Japan with friends in 2012. I feel proud that I have the nephew of Lord Mountbatten (R.I.P) as a client, if all goes well I'll be doing allot more work with him. Overall Its been very stressful but rewarding! Unfortunately My mother Is now in hospital undergoing treatment for cancer on her spine. the doctors should of found it over a month ago but it wasn't until Esso implemented a private health plan did she get the diagnosis she deserved, It appears that for the past 3 months mother has been only a sneeze away from total paralysis because of the cancer pressing on her spine. unfortunately there are more lumps and its not a cancer that appears on its own, there's a source that has spread them around her body. I don't know about the rest of my family but I am personally prepared for her possible death in the future, It's a harsh reality to come to terms with but I prepare for every possible outcome so I'm ready for it. when I compare myself to others my own age I suddenly feel 20 years older, most of them are still enjoying the thrills of youth, I on the other hand have sacrificed it and have started making preparations for my own future. I have no regrets about my choices and I will stand strong, show weakness and we are cut down like the trees we fell every day. If you have read all that then I am thankful Have a good day everyone I'm going to clean my chainsaw Ryan - Standing strong and proud
  14. a foot of chippings sounds like quite allot but I think it will be ok if you make certain the chippings aren't piled up around the stems. how big are the rhodies out of curiosity, I've worked with some mature rhodies that were easily 8m tall!
  15. I'm working on the welcome page now need to think of something clever and intresting but also plain and simple should be fun
  16. Thanks for that and I have already edited the page to read To get in touch, please contact Ryan Tarr using one of the following options:
  17. I did indeed, I tried using 'Google sites' once before but the tools confused me, Thankfully the Get British Business On-line (GBBO) group who provide the web address also provide a very good video tutorial on how to use it. It all came quite easily after that Ps. I have a problem with the colour contrast on my monitor so everything looks a little more washed out that it really is!! I never realised how bold the background blue was, I have changed it to a off white for the moment
  18. It was a little Idea I thought I would give a try and I have seen several others doing it, I guess the idea applies to older people rather than young, the older generation seem to have so many rusty tools dotted around (some in use, others not) so I thought I would offer the service to bring them back to a a good standard standard, Plus if I'm servicing their lawnmower they might decide to have their tools seen to as well maybe? a few quid each soon adds up, Its only a idea but I thought I'd give it a try you never know. Thanks for your point Steve, I haven't been overly fond of it myself but I can't seem to find a better colour.
  19. For the past few weeks I have slowly been developing a website for my business, I feel it has now reached the point where I want criticism so I can Improve it and correct any problems present. I would say its about 85% complete now, the general layout and data input is pretty much done and its only fine tuning, except for the Tool Maintenance section, I'm still working out the prices for this although feel free to comment on it anyway. without further delay I present my website Sakura Garden Services Please criticise as much as you can, I'm sure there is lots I can Improve.
  20. Just spoken to the client and he has gone with the cow slurry option to my slight surprise, can get slurry for free from a friend who works as a knackerman, i think he scrapes it out the cow or something like that.... or get it from the slurry tank! I'm being paid to do it!!
  21. I'm still waiting for the client to get back to me with the size of the wall, Ill give him the choices but I don't think he will be happy about the options!! his choice though
  22. Yep seems Yoghurt and cow slurry are the two most common options. Cow slurry reduces the Ph of the wall to make it more palatable for lichen, it of course provides nutrients and has a immediate darkening effect. Spraying watered down Yoghurt onto the wall has a smiler effect but takes several weeks to form a darkened organic surface. either way it will take several years for the lichen to start growing, maybe more if the conditions are not right
  23. hmm that seems a bit more practical, the only mother suggestion I have had is to paint to wall with watered down yoghurt...
  24. As happy as I would be to smear cow poo on a clients wall (and be paid for it!!) I don't think he would be happy with it its a good idea though
