  1. Personally I'd take a look first? A Mulcher will absolutely have a part to play, but it could be covered in half decent size Birch that many would be happy to pay reasonable money for if accessible roadside. Could help offset costs somewhat? Eddie.
  2. We do a fair bit of wetland stuff, and everyone I know has the Hunter Forester 3000 including myself. The comment not everyday wear is probably the best bit of advice I could give as well, as they are simply heavy! I would think Firefighter type wellies would be pretty good quality, but never really researched if they do chainsaw rated ones? Eddie.
  3. Great bits of kit, and better if they have a vertical sensor on them to help get the arm/bucket in the same position each time for a more accurate check. Some lads put them on a pole on the grading bucket when levelling to give a consistent grade to work to, and it can be incredibly accurate with a bit of practice. They do them now with a wireless repeater screen that goes in the cab, and this can be placed more in line of sight to assist accuracy. Some are now 360 degree receivers too that can grab the laser signal from a much wider range, but obviously if the arm gets in the way it's not going to work. I think you'll like it. Eddie.
  4. First time it came on the radio, I had to get out the machine as I thought I'd tracked over a Cat!:thumb down: Not the best I think? Eddie.
  5. Sounds Perfect. I'll be in touch monday thanks. Eddie.
  6. Looking for someone to deliver EFAW+F course asap in North Staffordshire I have enough I would anticipate to fill one course easily, but I'd expect two once word gets around. There are a variety of suitable training venues depending on what you require available, and catering etc will be sorted. Everyone is there to learn and I want it to be a real world comprehensive course, not just a box ticker, as these lads have my back and myself theirs should the worst happen. Post your number up here as it may be useful to others, or PM me if you prefer Thanks. Eddie.
  7. Even harder getting the right man in the seat of them! Eddie.
  8. These wheels are usually used for cutting Tarmac especially in Scandinavia, but this guy has combined the Integral Gripper of his Engcon unit and his Pizza Cutter to a whole new level. These Mini Rubber Ducks are going to explode one day in the UK marketplace, as they are just so versatile. [ame] [/ame] Eddie.
  9. It works perfectly with a Motor, but an excavator obviously has a very good hydraulic system at it's heart. I think Wilsons had a customer do an Igland too with a hydraulic motor and sprocket to the chain drive. Eddie.
  10. For an Igland I'd go straight to A&B Services in Scotland as they do Hydraulic ones fitted to Excavators. Eddie.
  11. Never happier than behind the levers with a bit of a challenge. Doing a big ditch at present and it's all on show so pressure is on to get it spot on. Nice Volvo to do it with and makes the day a pleasure. Eddie.
  12. Came up to North Staffordshire no issue and top job.
  13. This is for a big Wheeled Excavator (Rubber Duck) and it has plenty of capacity in terms of weight and hydraulic flow available. The bonus is, he has a much larger Engcon unit that incorporates a Hi Flow centre swivel. This basically allows a decent flow of oil through the centre joint and also via a slip ring setup 12 way electrical circuits to rotate continuously. Combine a good hydraulic flow with electrics and a whole new world of possibilities open up below that Tiltrotator! The simple fact for him is he will spend time shaping and grading soil to look all pretty, and then the landscape gang will plough all over it with a compact and rotovator anyway ready for seeding. If he can have a machine place soil ahead of him but loose with teeth, then he can do the final passes with a rotovator working in any direction he likes as it will rotate freely 360 degrees whilst working! I am certain a great finnish should be achievable with the right setup and he could literally put a fert spinner on and seed the lot from the cab! Sadly at this time my Engcon is too small to have the Hi Flow swivel, but I'm making the most of what's available and have another project coming together for it that should be very useful. Eddie.
  14. Sorry I should have pointed out that the implement first has to be mounted in the conventional manner, but we utilised 3 hook ends to make this easy. Then as described the Engcon Ec-Oil will allow me to fit and remove the whole unit in around 30 seconds from the cab, connecting both hydraulics and electrics. If I can find a Timberwolf PTO Chipper for it, then it should only take a few minutes to switch from Winch to Chipper with the hook ends helping. It's a very handy setup, and the Engcon system gets the best from it. The Tajfun is the model with 540 shaft for Rear tractor mounting and 1000 shaft reversed for Front Tractor mounting which makes it very versatile. I have a good friend on Motorway work, and I am planning a bigger unit of this type for him to run a rotavator on the end of his machine for finishing the topsoil on verges and batters. This should enable him to place the soil slightly more roughly with the bucket teeth, and then having a rotavator under his Tiltrotator, bring the soil up to a suitable finnish for seeding. He could even switch to a fertiliser spinner to place the seed if he wished? It really opens up quite a few options? Eddie.
  15. It'll power other PTO kit and I'm searching for a mint Timberwolf 150H PTO for it, as it should power it easily. It was basically all my idea and legwork for the motor, then John Craig at JCC Engcon did his magic on it. It will run the winch on tickover easily and no heat issues. Peoples faces when you drop off the Engcon, Mulcher or whatever and pick that up without getting out of the cab! Eddie.
  16. Yes but that 70 tonner isn't going to shear many trees in a tight site! I spotted a few of the mods they have and looked into who did them, the company is in my memory bank for future projects as they certainly do a decent job of fabricating one offs. Eddie.
  17. Yes I do but slightly more advanced than that setup, as I actually have a complete 3 point linkage and pto setup, not just a winch modified to a hydraulic motor. I also don't need to get out of the cab to fit it due to the Engcon Ec-oil System that will connect all the pipes/electrics when hitching up. Fantastic in use with full radio remote. Eddie.
  18. Took a bit of finding Adrian but here's a bit of their work off their Facebook page:thumbup1:
  19. The Kubota is pretty bombproof in the guarding department and also has a Marguard screen for the Mulcher, but it has already saved several replacements in general use. Jcc Engcon did all my mods and guarding and are A1 but perhaps a bit far in this instance. I'd seek out a company that I've seen examples of their work and it's extremely neat and innovative. They do work for Volvo on their demolition excavators and that would have to be top notch to get past Volvo. They are called Fabrication by design and are in Redditch. Eddie.
  20. Nice setup there Adrian, you don't see many Mec's about let alone equipped with a decent shear setup and some nice tyres. I hope it works out well for you, as you've clearly put a lot of thought into it. Eddie.
  21. That doesn't sound too good? Such a shame if kit gets abused. I've never seen it but it must be a monster with the pads on! Eddie.
  22. Such a huge variation in rates both geographically and in terms of what you actually get for your money it's incredible, and that's before anyone even starts on the whole Self Drive debate? It's incredibly hard as someone doing it professionally with newish kit, some attachments perhaps, fully insured and plenty of experience is going to be miles away from someone taking out the Farm machine between Milking times? I don't have to tell anyone here, it's always the same when someone asks the rate for a Gang with Chipper? I always give full credit to Drew Graham for sticking up a full menu of his prices, I assume they will have a bit of negotiation for longer hires etc, but it's always worth a look? Some serious kit available too! http://www.drewgraham.co.uk/images/plantlist.pdf Eddie.
  23. Looking good Stephen, must have transformed your business that CAT machine. Just one for you, this arrived today and will be mated to the Tracked Dumper which we have now rigged up with swivel hitch and tipping pipe. Should go places with the Dumper pulling it?:thumb up: Eddie.
  24. I've literally been flat out of late so this has dropped off the radar a little, but it's getting around to that time of year again so pleased you prompted me to do something about it. I'll get in touch and discuss the faster winch as speed is literally the main factor to retrieve the main winch cable which in reality can be a struggle for 3 men at times. Thanks. Eddie.
  25. To be honest I try and take the whole tree where possible if the root has to go. It's always easiest to push it over and sort it out on the floor. I dig as much soil off the underside of the root ball as I can with the full weight of the tree still attached, before the root gets cut off. All very easy to say when you have larger machines to hand, but my KX57-4 Kubota would surprise many as to just what it was capable of. I still haven't bought the 'Stump Raptor' I keep promising myself from Northerntrack, they make a great job of them and not crazy money I think too. There's a great little feature on them here Northerntrack?s ?Stump Raptor? does the business | EARTHMOVERS MAGAZINE Eddie.
