  1. Tajfun with the Automatic stop when the wire is spooled back in and Radio Remote would be my choice. Once you’ve gone radio remote and auto stop, there’s no going back. Quality rope on the Tajfun too. Eddie.
  2. Certainly doesn’t look like a scam, one phonecall to Jcc Group John Craig will almost certainly tell anyone interested all they want to know, as that’s going to be one of his Engcon setups/installs with the SVAB control system. Someone has spent some serious money there, and is clearly passionate about the details. Look at the extra grips on the outside of the joysticks, and even the Ec-Oil blocks have their additional yellow protective covers on. Wouldn’t be my first choice of brand, but would certainly be a great entry into the concept, and all the kit would transfer over if you moved onto another brand in the future. Eddie.
  3. Yes hope their Hired Plant policy is well up, that’s a new cab going on, and 2/3 the rate per week until it’s available again for hire. That’s the pitfalls of putting them out at £350 a week and hoping at least someone has an idea what they’re doing with it!? Eddie.
  4. Is it me or the top of the cab looks bent in on that 13 tonner? Some job, but credit for sorting them out. Eddie.
  5. Spotted this on Mascus, bit of an unusual one?? Basically a new Kobelco SK75, guarded up, will take loads of different pad options up to probably 900mm without mods. Has a Steelwrist with Control System and Top Hitch setup too, so some serious money been spent. Seems to be a mix of Buckets etc available, no idea on price, but potential to make something really nice from it. https://www.mascus.co.uk/construction/used-midi-excavators--7t---12t/kobelco-sk-75-sr-3e/optqwjrl.html Eddie.
  6. Yes they do and in one famous incident in the not so distant past someone took it upon themselves to lighten a chipper to get it under the weight. The fact they took the covers off, all them spinning around bits caused Network Rail to have a sense of humour failure for some reason, and the whole possession got binned at great expense! Rail work, you couldn’t buckrake £50 notes as fast into a silage clamp as they can waste it! Eddie.
  7. It’s obviously in my mind, and I’m working on a setup for the realistic max capacity. Problem with me is I’m crap at the business side, I’m just a kit junkie and can’t stop trying to put together another better solution. Great if I can just find someone to put work in front of me to deliver. Just building them gets more attractive daily! Eddie.
  8. Great shot of the Liebherr in action last year. Built for the job and for the price of a couple of good teams a day can do it effortlessly and safely. Work has just dried up completely for it in this application,so just rethinking what attachment I can put on the end of it to get more utilisation. Eat the green one for breakfast!? Eddie.
  9. Anyone’s handywork? A mate sent me the images from Euroauctions yard today.? Eddie.
  10. Be a Robotec man no doubt, different league and price! Eddie.
  11. Be about 600mm cut and around 1000kg, I’d expect. It’s not reinventing the wheel stuff, it just shows you can be sold solutions that will work, but can they cut it when really put to work. Tiltrotator installs is one thing I know inside out, and it still pains me to see what some guys are sadly paying for and expected to take to work. It’s improved dramatically over the past few years as more knowledge is shared and guys get to know what to look out for. Eddie.
  12. It would be upside down so to speak and water/dirt would get in it. You can see it clearly now from the cab, but version 2 has the side plate extended to give the motor protection and that’s being put back on with a cover for the small pipe. The cab side is fine now, just the details on the other side, run it and then tidy it up on a finished design. Eddie.
  13. Just some images of the evolution on an Intermercato Grapple Saw for a 13 tonne Doosan over the past 12 months. Basically when it arrived there was virtually no room to add the extra valve /pipework required into the head bracket. The worm drive motor was sticking out at the rear blind side for the Operator, begging to be knocked off. It generally looked like an octopus was bursting out of it! Several other bits and pieces in how it performed, not something you’d want to take to work. Version two threw up issues again, simply because who did the mods didn’t take the time to test it. The two position type head bracket I prefer was thrown in the mix here. Time to send it up over the border to the man who sorts all my kit, and the latest version is now back at work. Getting there now, going to be one last version after this to give it the production look/finish and hopefully an off the shelf unit that’s fit for work, tested on the front line. Plenty of other setups out there, but many have had great success with the Intermercato range, and it would be nice to get a readily available, cost effective option that actually works real world. Version 1 Version 2 Version 2 Latest Version Latest version Looking something like now. Eddie.
  14. Done a bit of shaking down with it this week, bloody freezing! Awaiting another piece of the attachment setup from Holland now. It’s a fair thing, hell of a reach for a wheeled machine. Eddie.
  15. Manual online here, and this is the bit of information that’s caused some nightmares! How to switch from single acting auxiliary for breaker use to two way for Grab, Auger etc. http://www.hireone.net/images/downloads/TB016-operators-manual.pdf Eddie
  16. Many Congratulations, you’ll not go wrong with that, low on the hours and all there.? That’s all your weekends gone at mates houses for a start!? Eddie.
  17. The Trolleys are rated for the task, this has been about a few years now, and simply does the job with the least amount of issues. Anything Rail involves a level of compliance and rightly so, start involving larger kit, self propelled etc that can’t easily be recovered come any issues and it’s getting expensive real quick! You will find that Rail won’t readily embrace any innovation, it’s just flood it with men mentality, they can always be packed up and sent elsewhere or home at worst. Having kit on the job and stood down for one piece of paper or some chancer who was supposed to travel half way around the country to supervise a shift, gets expensive real quick! Eddie.
  18. Fixed mount grab is one that utilises a head bracket on the top of the rotator, usually picked up by the quick hitch, so the Bucket Ram comes into play when moving material. Swinging grab, is hung via a link as in most Forestry cranes, and is free to swing, and the Bucket Ram has no influence. A Grapple isn’t a grab in these terms, that utilises the bucket ram for opening and closing, not an auxiliary circuit. Eddie.
  19. That size of machine, go with a grab, then get TMK to Demo the Shear whilst you have the machine. From nothing to a 3 tonner and fixed mount grab is going to move things up a gear or two. Eddie.
  20. I’d go with an Intermercato TG16 Pro SR5, with rotator. Have the 6 way valve fitted which will allow it to be used from a single circuit, as still many hire companies won’t take machines with two auxiliary circuits. To activate the valve you just need a 12v supply and switch. Some just disconnect the horn and use this as it’s already on the levers, but could lead to trouble come an accident. Otherwise rig your own foot pedal and power lead that goes in the power socket to power it. Foot pedals are dirt cheap and makes for easy operation. Just some cable ties on the power lead up the boom and down the dipper to the 6 way valve will do the trick. With this setup you’re good to go with Hired machines and have a sought after item for resale, or keep it for the inevitable machine purchase you know will come after! As for a Shear, TMK200, good Shears, and spec it with the bigger cylinder that requires less pressure, so virtually anything will power it. Auxiliary line pressure is the main cause of poor shear performance, and is something many never get checked or optimised. Again no issues moving TMK 200’s on. Plenty out there, worth a punt on Arbtrader for Grab/Shear to Hire, maybe even a full setup could be available? Eddie.
  21. Old Harvesting Head or Grapple Saw is just a Chainsaw you don’t have to hold! Dangle it from the crane, it’s dangle mounted on the Harvester anyway and simply power up the Grab and Saw function which will work underwater. A Shear would obviously do it, but you’d not be looking at off the shelf stuff. Eddie.
  22. You need an old Harvesting Head dangled from a crane in the felling position with the saw underneath, and power it remotely. Just position it, it'll grip and and cut, with the feed rate adjustable to slow it down for the material. You could make up a small grapple saw to do exactly the same. Salt water and my kit, no way!!! Eddie.
  23. Be a fair jump up in the budget to get s 219. I dislike them just for the distance between the blade and the tracks, it’s ridiculous. Eddie.
  24. You’ve already hit the magic numbers required to get you into a Takeuchi TB016. There’s plenty of other offerings out there, but with a decent reach, plenty of power, expanding tracks, brilliant reliability and ability to shrug off what the average utility lads paid by the metre can throw at them! They cost that bit more for a reason, but hold their money like no others. I’ve known people run them years and still make a profit selling on. Plenty out there, best of luck, you’ll not regret it. Eddie.
  25. Absolutely, just open to absolute abuse if it’s available anywhere, the cost difference would make it a real winner for an Ag guy doing some Plant on the side, by the time he’s carted it to site behind a Tractor and done a few shifts, a serious saving to be had. Can’t see Farmers wanting to give it up easy and I’d expect some yellow vests will be protesting if they get penalised and Farmers don’t. Eddie.
