Hi Gavin, That is some serious sign writing. I know you got it for free because of the grammatical errors but did you not have to accept a proof design first? What was the original quote for that kind of work? Also, who hands out "The best tree surgeon in sussex" award? Is it the Bognor Observer? Only pulling your leg. I know some pretty good tree guys down there, you must have some hot competition! Doug Blease

Jamie, Knowing how safe you guys are to work with I am sure you had it covered. If you have too divert from your generic RA or the AFAG guidelines, all you have to do is address it in a site specific RA and make sure you and Kevin have agreed that your alternative method is a safe method. Doug

£140 i think. £170 if your not a member. Hope its not too dull.......what am i saying ITS A RISK ASSESSMENT COURSE! Its a fair drive, especially as I have to be in Edinburgh the next day.

I am off to do the AA risk assessment course this week. Has anyone done it? What can I expect? Is anyone from here going (Stoneliegh, Tuesday 24th)? DB

I reckon over the years I have heard an equal amount of good reports and bad reports about greenmech. Never used one so cant comment. TW's are ok but dont even come close to the Jensens or TP's for longevity of service in my opinion. I hope that steve isnt right there mate, thats a pretty low move. Doug Blease

I have worked on a LOT of Macrocarpa in a previous life. They are horrible to climb, very sticky, very dusty, sharp dead wood etc as I am sure you are aware. A good habitat for some small songbirds however, therefore if you have to take it down do so outwith the nesting period. Why not remove it and replace it with another juvenile tree after repairing the wall? Surely cheaper for your customer than engineering the wall and surrounding area? Doug Blease

Would work well if you could supply a Farm 2000 biomass burner. Have heard of balers working on clearfell sites once the harvester has left.

I sat it recently and failed one part of the assessment. I found the course EXTREMELY interesting. Am due to resit it very soon.

Ideal species! I am sure there is a member not so far from you who might look at it for you. Sustainability is the key! Not a free for all. Look after your biodiversity. Enjoy your woodland! Lots more than just firewood. Edible mushrooms (read up on this too), wild game, leisure time, woodland crafts..... Loads of fun! -
How do you want to record them? Post code? Whats your opinion on seed collecting from good genetic stock. Do you have any experience of this?
