  1. Sorry for your confusion Sky! or are you just being sky? lol how long the guy leaves it is up to him, its his wallet but me and the client had "that" chat and has been made aware that in an ideal world it would be done inside 5 years, 8 at longest, does that de confuse this point ?
  2. O.k enough of the thanks, like i said i need youre negativity to keep my leviathon ego in check, too many posts like this and I will have no choice but to believe in my "delusions of grandeur"
  3. Listen fella, no wounds should be had here! I am just glad i managed to contribute to somebodies learning, thats what i am here to get too. Shouldnt look at it as ive got one over on you! and dont apologise, being pinned down and gunned forces you to double check your facts, its all good. i think we are all guilty from time to time of jumping to an idea or opinion without thinking about it too much, you only have to look at me as a prime example! lmao:thumbup:
  4. My boss reduced the tree many moons before my "appaling effort" I know that it could have been lighter, but that was what he asked for. i also know that from its current form, (created by me) it will give a much more flexible framework to work with next time around, as long as it is not left so long as to shade out the internal growth like it had this time, but iether way the subsequent re growth will be of a finer diameter and more ramified making future work more practical and in keeping. It was a case of commiting the trees main structure to a limit from which to control subsequent growth, it will almost always be possible to get it back to this frame work in all future prunes. unless of course its left well alone for so long it developes into a big tree. he paid the bill, and i know he will hire my firm again, but I just wish I had perfect dry conditions to work in and gotten a bit further out.
  5. good on em, i would rather have coppers with a sense of humour than the stuffy ones any day!
  6. maybe you should start your own thread shrek, one about your love of britney and queen! I think I will go with paul weller- brand new start!
  7. the fact these are in a fairing ring formation should be sufficient to asume these are harmless decomposers or micorhizas, too red for false chanterelle and the rim or cap lip is not turned downward but upward and it has very uniform gill form, i will have a peruse through the books and give a good idea what it is most likely. no issue to the ash
  8. wow guys, at 12 pages you honour me! I wasnt expecting so much love, this was after all one of the least (in my view) potential threads ive ever started!
  9. I cannot for the life of me understand how you have not come across this terminology for describing a limb that has deviated from its natural form? I will endevour to find a few references to it, shouldnt be hard iether. Your spot on with proffesional replies, and thanks for that, i do tend to treat this in a less than formal manner and I do need to change this if I am going to avoid much of this benign stuff! not in reference to you! I think a LOT of us could do with adjusting our TONE in postings! it leads to all kinds of shannanigans!
  10. because I was just venting my utter fustration at what a client asks for and the conflicts within me of having not understood them fully, that is my failing, but I recognise that you will NEVER please SOME folk, though in this case i may have done something to alter the product. I hate getting it wrong, i normaly work it out suss out what laymen mean when they say what they say. this time i got it wrong, and i was dissapointed inm myself more than anything else
  11. not a critisicm by the way, just curious on your view. They felt you hadnt done enough, so do you feel they may go to another contractor next time?
  12. I regard only the comments made that make sense to me, I will continue to disregard as many of the superfluos as I am able to contain/refrain myself from answering! What do you expect me to say to that comment? it is a negative view on my persona, because your asking me to change, and why should I? for your benifit?
  13. The three lower limbs HAD gone phototropic, in other words had begun to over elongate and change orientation to captialise on light. due to be the lower limbs and faced with shading on all fronts except out and up! not an over use of the word, FACT
  14. thats a pucka job fella, similar to what I would have done, but you have the advantage there of it being away from services and garages and overhangs. its always a compromise, what they want and what is best, we do the best compromise, its just then ethics that tell us how FAR we can compromise, Right?
  15. just my thoughts. the job, my personal opinion good shape, but a little heavy handed for me, but agin well done this sorst of debate is what actually helps people understand some of the difficulties in an industry that does indeed have an artistic 'bent' to it. cheers kevin __________________ Arbocop Thanks kevin, at least one person gets it! And yes it does take GUTTS to put your work in here for all to rip to shreds, and i will do it again and agian and again! It is as you say a little heavy handed, but the client specificaly said to take as much off as I could, COULD! I have done an absolutley blinding job given the brief, i KNOW this trees health is TIP TOP and it will not burn in summer heat or fail to occlude, or even have the terminals "rip out" as one who shall remain nameless "you know who you are shrek! lol" said. The tree has already , maybe due to previuos reduction changed structure to what is essentialy, internaly a decurent form, though ne growth goes and reverts to excurrent apical dominant as you would expect at this age and vigour. however, this art is not discimilar to the bonsai effect, and the "inner tree" is the disired form, and it is the re growth that is undesired. this is what MUST be done when a tree outgrows its plot, thats not the trees fault, thats OUR fault, we plant em, then we have to force bad choice of size and form into a bonsai and artificial form. thats bread and butter reduction, and you ALL know it, so stop talking utter crap!
  16. Sadly that is like the old saying "many a true word spoken in jest" Your not far off the mark! Though it has to be said that a lot of the gear we have these days is a vast improvement, I dont know how I managed before bull ropes pulleys and slings, and as for the portawrap, makes my world a wonderful place! but there are way too many "posers" in this game now! The future of arb? increasing diversity of operational sectors, and specialist niches as more research gets done and higher specs and demands are put on the high end of the business, and just doing as we always did at the lower end, doing whatever turns up whenever it turns up and depending on current work loads and capacity.
  17. I get what your saying, and a lot of whats said is as you point out pointless. It is as far as i can see like being in a bar full of arbs, talking shop, to me thats a first, cos I am with a small firm and my colleugues do not want to talk shop, they take thier money and go home, and that is their lot. I am here for same as you lot, to see what others think, what alternative views there are to be had. You cant evaluate your own thinking without comparing it to a group thought proscess. This place is invaluable for that. It is no joke when I say I only seek to learn from my pressence here, they say in order to get better at something you have to play with those who can beat you at your own game. I only want to be the best i can be and hence i come here as there are many great guys in here who i stand to gain much from, yes even you rupe! A lot of folk have me all wrong, but thats my fault, cos I rise to the occasion when folk try to make a monkey of me, that is hard to control! You know what they say, ask a dumb question and youll get a dumb answer, and a lot of talk is often as you say pointless. i would rather stick to topic personaly, the only thing I learn from this kind of input is what we are like as people, and whilst i love making new friends, thats not what i am after from this forum!
  18. Wow, i am sorry you feel that way, it sounds like your speaking for others too, certainly implying it! Shrek, seriously no problem m8, as for being 17, if you still had the drive passion and enthusiasm i have at 37 after 22 years in that is a quality I am happy to own up to, and i will never change it! I am certain some day, at a show some place I will get a chance to buy you a pint and give you the oportunity to REALY evaluate the person i am, but for now you asume way too much! As for my threads becoming more about me than the subject, that is the doing of others, i merely reply, or am i missing something horrifying like some narcasistic fruit cake?
  19. LOL, no worries fella, as for the calm bit unfortunatley i am wayyyyy to passionate to be able to contain iether my enthusiasm or heated palet when given a post that is prevocative! Besides some poeple like fishing, and being the generous dude I am i like to oblige the "noddy" anglers and be a "mug fish" for thier sakes, it is entertainment!
  20. can i just say that i do not want any status, as for status in here and competing for top place with monkey D wtf! Monkey is a legend, i have a lot of respect for him and he is in front of me by a good few furlongs. I personaly could not care less what any of you think of my work, personal nature, ethics etc..... no its not true, I do care and a great deal i might add, this game is my life, and i would like to think i am prety darn good at it, despite several comments! I have been judged and assesed by men many times the magnitude of all on this forum, and it is their opinion that matters to me above what is said in here. I realy do not require any approval from anyone on this forum, nor do any of you mine no doubt. When i said What andy commented on about replies, i merely meant that I was suprised at the response this thread recieved, i thought it would get a few regulars pass comment and it would die a death! I am flattered! as for rupes comment regarding not posting any reductions, why not? cos your going to be gunned? so what if a few guys have an opinion, were all here to have them, opinions i mean! Ive never been afraid of critisism, even though it hurts like salt in a knife wound! i am not trying to be something I am not, i am what you see, you can take it or leave it, love me or loathe me, it realy is not a problem, Im not everyones cup o tea! christ if we was all the same this world would be so darn dull, and I embrace diversity! i seem to rub a few folk up the wrong way, I realy do not mean to, but I am not going to cry over a few digs about the quality of my work. This is not the place for sensitive folk for sure! i guess I must be a gluten for punishment! besides, how would i keep my massive ego in check without you lot? LMAO
  21. Oh i will! And I cant wait! though as with this client I am certain there will be knockers comments!
