  1. I know you did fella, and I didnt have a scooby doo:thumbup1: Im just getting good at sourcing stuff!
  2. this is a great shame and wrong attitude in my opinion, also I reckon that they are gilled not pored! aside from some decay that tree was very healthy and vital, in fact ive never seen such a recovery from HCBC, normally the bark is far more cracked and ribs more obvious. Another tree needlessly felled and laid to waste
  3. I bet the chub and barbel fishing will be epic when its starting to fine down! get your rods out matt
  4. That is a serious financial commitment going through all this process! fair play HB Dont envy you splicing all day though!
  5. great videos guys, really nice work on the splitter.
  6. 100% agree:thumbup1: ww.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17061141 Abstract In plants, directional cell expansion greatly contributes to the final shape of mature cells, and thus to organ architecture. A particularly interesting mode of cell expansion is helical growth in which the growth axis is continuously tilted either to the right or to the left as the cell grows. Fixed handedness of helical growth raises fundamental questions on the possible origin of left-right asymmetry. Twisting mutants of Arabidopsis thaliana offer unique opportunities to study the cellular basis of helical growth. Most of the twisting mutants with fixed handedness have been shown to have defects in microtubule functions, whereas mutants that twist in non-fixed directions appear to be defective in auxin response or transport. Good correlations have been found between the tilted growth direction and alignment of cortical microtubule arrays in twisting mutants with compromised microtubule functions. The present challenge is to understand how particular array patterns are organized during progression of the interphase in rapidly expanding cells. Molecular and cell biological studies on twisting mutants will lead to better understanding on how wild-type plant cells utilize the microtubule cytoskeleton to initiate and rigorously maintain straight growth.
  7. First and last images are superb, always a great image when the suns behind with grey clouds in front, really really nice shots David
  8. This post was not directed at anyone for the record, it is merely that Everything I do here is better put into articles that would be very saleable, and given that I need to diversify and slow down on the physical stuff I am taking advice and giving a lot of thought to how and where I speak and present my thoughts and images. Its nothing against anyone, you lot know me better than that:001_smile: So apologies to those who misunderstood and took that as a direct comment.
  9. he isnt up to date with modern kit, change trainer!
  10. wot they doing teaching snatching before safe shock absorbing lowering methods? what they doing using the students kit? was it lolered? what they doing setting students up to think kit damage is part of the normal routine? was it lolered after? poor, epic way
  11. There was no need to re pollard them, that was a bull excuse IMO.
  12. I am always ready to help others, just ask, my emails at the bottom:thumbup1:
  13. advice is one thing, im not talking about general advice.
  14. Cilla I would think that finding what value the tree offfered the community will be key in your fight, and showing the oposition that you mean business
  15. It seems to be the one that is actualy working from a legal perspective, but Im still reading and learning, when I know better I will let you know. I will get some details too:thumbup1:
  16. I have been "informed" to be more cautious regarding what I know and think about as there is so im told a lot of value, value that some would be quick to cash in on and sell on. This has caused me to reconsider much of what I do and say in more ways than one! everyone else is making money, in some cases for not a lot of substance, so given my desperate need to earn my living in alternative directions im taking some time out to reconsider an awful lot of stuff.
  17. Its funny you should say this, I am trying to think of workshops/lectures/demos and how I might do this as a practical demo and or classroom subject. Its a lot to consider and work on.
  18. good point pete! HYDRATED CHALK IS WHAT I WAS THINKING!
  19. thanks fella, which trees/images do you want to know more about?
  20. we took a days holiday! the odd day is one thing but its been getting silly of late, im going to buy a woodmizer and construct an Ark. I love it when they impose hosepipe bans or declare a BBQ summer, it guarantees to rain constantly from that day forth!
  21. No S...sherlock!!
  22. argh so thats why the mystery! there is NO plan!
  23. Street trees get tonked, end of, its the way its done, budgets and realities and restrictions all play their part. Most of the guys on this forum couldnt get the volume of work done these firms do for the money, its a different game.
