  16. :thumbdown:I was pulled in by police and v.o.s.a friday,as i have a 8x5 twinaxle tow a van tariler on the back of my double cab 4x4 pickup the vosa officer has told me i must have a tacho fitted.when i ask him on friday does this rule apply to farmers with 4x4 and cattle trailers.he replied saying they are alloweed to travel 50km max distance from there farm to take livestock to market. So i didnt think to ask if that rule applied to me transporting firewood. The pickup and trailer combined weight exceeds 3500kg he said so therefor u must have a tacho fitted i didn't argue with him i thought rule is a rule i just took the 7 days notice and drove off,i then thought i wonder if the 50km rule applies to me i give my brother a ring who to my luck is a transport manager for a big distribution company. He told me there and then that it does and the vosa officer should of made me aware of it.So then i give the officer a call on his mobile number i left him a message explaining i had found this out that the 50km rule did apply to me and that my brother was a transport manager and he knows the rules inside out.Today i recieved a phone call off the officer to confirm we were correct. He has ask me to email him giving proof that i dont deliver any further than 50km from my depot.I am discussded with him he never mentioned anything to me when he pulled me so lads if u get pulled up by vosa be on your guard.Has anyone else on here been told they need a tacho?

  19. joy its diffrent around here we dont step on each others toes were are retail customers are concerned .its diffrent with loose loads we all have adds in local paper its up 2 the punters who they ring then its up to us the suppliers to come up with the best deal so they come back for more.I wont advertise my kindling on here out of respect for u although im cheaper im very old fashioned in my ways sometimes most times it pays off other times not,as for the diagreement with me and 76ar 1,He hired my kindlet off me i drove miles to deliver to him didnt charge a penny for my time only the fuel.2,when i went to collect the machine he had not bean looking after it he hadnt greesed it it was filthy.3,I was waiting for an hour before he sent someone to his unit to load it with me .Also this is a side line for him as well as a very well payed job.At the end of the day i have a family to feed, like you i pay my way to the goverment.when you c people coping your ideas and doing it for the old johnny cash it ***** u off, never mind im working my machine for a while leave him be ,i was going to buy a chipper off him to hire out down here but its a no no,he also said on here i sent him a swearing message which i didnt do ,i have no time for the guy if he is reading this my postcode is ll53 7yn he can put it in his satnav and come on down if he has anything to say he was in the wrong hes welcome to hire his kindler out dont forget every one im cheaper and my machine has bean reconed to a kindlet turbo,so stick with me and fuelwood they build thease fab machines.
  20. i operate the machine its petrol i dont hire out on its own.Come down pensarn rhyd y clafdy to see me. I will not give my whole sale prices out to anyone thats between me and my loyal customers who have bean with me for the best part of 10years.With a labourer feeding and grading the timber we would need 2and a half days to process it all if we do it in 2 days thats a bonus.r u in boes yard or r u the place on the main road towards pentreuchaf ill call there ill be passing tomoz if thats ok.as u can understand i have a firewood buisness in this area i supply nearly all the shops and garages and also have a load of customers who buy loose loads off me.So i dont want to encourage anyone to sell logs .Ill need u to be honest from day 1 as im as straight as they come i wont mess people about and wont be messd about by anyone myself.so whats ur name behind all this technical log talking.
  21. here is the total daily cost £250for me machine and my labourer +£25.00fuel cost to run the processor.we will get to yours for 8.30 set up and start break11am 20mins 12.50pm-1.30pm dinner3pm 20mins break finish 5.30 .we will need to a level ground to set machine on so we can manover it as the pile gets bigger.
  22. Give ralf a buzz he has plenty of wood available he supplies me so tell him you want a load suitable for my machine,i will bring my labourer u will not need a diggar it will be in the way weight is no problem we can lift all timber that is 8foot long and max 12inch diammeter try and get aload that is under 10inch it is less pressure om the machine.
  23. hi who r u i will process your timber no probs, under the condition u do not approach any of my retail customers to try an sell the logs.
  24. could u give me ur postcode ill work out the total cost for u how many days do u want us for we need 14days notice. If u are over 150miles away its minimum 2 days we trave down day1 work 9.30am till 6pm day2 we start 8.30am till 5pm we will have to charge for 1 night b&b we will allow u to book it to get the best price.what diammeter is your timber ?are machine will take up to 12inch.call me on 07875925857 if ur interested regards wyn
