  3. I know a lad called gaz from bury... If you want I can dig out his number. Solid groundsman!
  4. This is what the dude who's pics they are told me. 'Derrick Martin Works with one or two open (not much friction) redirects. I plan my climbs a little different when using a top tie, will work a little harder (normally doing the hard part first) so that i make retrieval easier.'
  5. Rich, did you have a base tie when that happened? Or a High TIP? Did the top reach the ground? What happened to your rope?
  6. Brilliant post mate! Yes, with the right groundsman that piece would have made it with rope intact. They were trying to make that rope snap on purpose!
  7. Happened to a mate some years back, again on a lime repollard. He was lucky.

  12. Hooray for the sense of humour of arbtalk. Thanks Stevie. This place is really getting gizmo obsessed. Ive noticed alot of the older crowd don't post anymore. Shame.
  13. Make up a leg strap to clip into the hand ascender. Do away with LOTS for good, by linking two light duty slings, put them on like a coat, and join with a crab in front at chest height, then clip in when you ascend. Much nicer method!
  14. Cool thanks Marcus!
  15. How many of you Brits do any large trees these days? There aint any left are there?
  16. Back in the 20's, we used to climb on hemp rope. Them were the days
  17. Keep calm and chive on.

  20. Good to have big gear like that ready! Wish I'd had a crane during the hurricane~!
