  2. have this lump for sale. laying inside a building atm. im sure it will make some good use. pm me offers. thanks james
  3. looking for a climber or groundie to give us a hand on sat 19th november.days work pollarding willows and pruning some other bits.pm me if interested. jobs in histon
  4. i think someone who can run a crew, hedge cut properly, climb well, tow and drive anything legally and dont bitch about logging is most defantly worth 150 all day long. then all you need is five 16 year old draggers on 35 a day and dont mind sitting under a sheet in the back of the van and your preety much sorted!
  5. so rather than a self employed good all round groundy how much is the going rate for a full time employed with all ppe supplied and saws/fuel supplied groundie? just out of interest?
  6. i completely agree. ive been groundie/climber for over 6 years now so yeah im good. work 9-10 hours a day making sure trucks are empty and jobs are finished and left spotless. a good groundy is worth his weight in gold and every gang needs one but when it come to sending out a gang of 3 with a climbers wage of 150,groundies wage of 150 and another groundie of 150 thats 450 in wages alone. not to mention overheads. so all i was trying to out across was how many people send all that out who can afford that everyday? cause i no for a fact we can on the odd day but not everyday.
  7. for that money i would stop climbing and work for any of you lot full time on that wage. that is full time right? although we should all be earning that much per day and believe me im not saying we should charge/pay less but each job will have to be priced at about 700-800 a day with 3 people truck chipper saws. who can honestly say they get that every day in order to pay a couple of groundies that much?
  8. if they have got a teleporter there could you not stand in the bucket and trim the sides?thats a lot of up down across up down across with the ladders!
  9. before i done my hgv i was told two different things by dvla. the first was as long as what you are driving and towing and carrying doesnt go over 3.5 tonne on a b licence your fine. then i was told you can tow up to 750kg on a b licence behind a any car/truck under 3.5 tonne. dont no whats right and whats wrong anymore
  10. nice seat. all that potential firewood! haha good job
  11. because parking was tight and the crane wouldnt reach that far where it was parked.also we was real tight for room as it wasnt a local job so the timber in the trailer was placed with no gap's anywhere. would be nice if the crane has a timber grab but id rather sling it than slice dice and lift
  12. the whole cpc thing. i was told that you need it if you are driving full time. the example i had was if you was a builder and you drove a lorry full of bricks the build a house at 8 in the morning then drove of at 4 everyday you dont need a cpc. or if you was only driving say 2-3 days a week. but aparently if you drive 5 days a week doing maybe 2-3 jobs a day then you need a cpc. i done it to save the ball ache if i ever got pulled by the fuzz.better to be safe than sorry
  13. you do if you havnt got pre 97 driving licence
  14. i think our 7.5 tonne iveco has to go in every 6 weeks for a check. it all adds up with a bigger lorry. not to mention the 90 pound monday to friday diesel to run it
  15. yeah thats him. 4 figures..... £300.00 cash and some bacon rolls...
  16. i done my c licence(class 2) and now i can drive anything rigid. only problem was then i had to do a seperate cpc test. which means you cant drive for hire and reward without it. now im having to do my atric c+e i think so i can tow a chipper legally. and then really u want someone else with a hgv licence plus cpc for when your not working. and if you havnt already got an o licence you have to apply and have so many thousands in your bank for 2 months i think to prove you can keep up with payment. its all a bit of a headache BUT very usefull for weight. especially site clearence or conifers. well worth doing if you have the time and money to keep up with the law's of it all. it seems easier in a 3.5 tonne truck really.
  17. graham lawrence.ive spoke to you about him before i think. hes from royston.that crane is really handy. close in lifts 12 tonne. fully stretched it lifts 3.5 tonne. if you ever want his number give frank a call. he LOVES wood.
  18. and yeah his number may come in use mate if you could do that
  19. basicly the job was for a customer's mother. she was really scared the tree was going to fall on her house. had a big limb go over the driveway a while back.no talking around reduction she wanted rid. the crown went for logs and the bottom was mush. unless theres anything someone can do from it? no good for logs...
  20. few reductions i found on computer thought i would put up.
  21. took this down in the week. some pics for all of you crane loving tractor lovers:thumbup1:
  22. nice one matt. whos tractor and trailer is that? or is that your new purchase?
