  6. Hi here,s my pennies worth NPTC IS A SELF APPOINTED BODY sold to or bought by city and guilds.LANTRA THEN STARTED TO SET THE STANDARDS. Both bodies are out for the sole purpose of making money lots and lots:sneaky2: I was trained and assessed by the same man for c30 and all the others. I preferred that. Now it is against the RULES you must be assed by an independent. Who by the way, are both LANTRA and NPTC EMPLOYED

Being an old git and having moved from one job involving safety to another, I can understand the concerns of many people, is training for people to keep on top of the latest techniques or is it an industry for some people to earn a very good living on the backs of good working people. People have to remember that in this country there is NO LAW as such for the buying selling and use of chainsaws. You can walk into any super market DIY and buy any type of chainsaw:blushing: yes including top handled:sneaky2: I for myself, do not like the way the pruning of mature trees is going for most it looks silly unbalanced AND is it you will have to come back early to re-prune Can the old ways of pollarding be looked at. Travel through northern mainland Europe at this time of year it can be seen that the 3,5,and 7year cycle of coppice and pollarding is still in practice.
