Carabiners for saws come under LOLER so if they are defective they should not be used, However rigging carabiners only have to have a 2 way action. IMO for the sake of £20 a couple of correctly working attachments is not too much to expect.

I have a 395xp. Great saw but the HAVs rating is crap compared to the 660. depends on what work you a likely to be doing with it, if your logging all day or for prolonged periods go for the 660

The NVQ in Trees and Timber has several different pathways to the Diploma, INCLUDING training for the CS units. The apprentices should have a buy in from their employer to give these kids exposure to all the elements of the course. In many ways the passing students are more experienced than the guys coming off of full time courses. My son is on the apprentiship scheme and the structure of work guidence and college is working very well for him. Oh and the CS training is free for under 18s (gov funded) so the only expence is the cost of the assesments.

The point is LOLER inspections are carried out by certified competent persons. They are accountable should the worst happen. Standing in court to argue your competence will not work without the cert. You may be a brilliant driver but without the bit of paper from the man your not in the eyes of the law. It is about accountability, if you want to certify your own gear do the course. That is assuming your insurance company will accept you checking your own kit as some dont.

If hes going to receive some training from a training school they will provide him with the kit. The advantage of this is he will get to try several harnesses and will be able to find one that suits his physioligy best

Try downloading this, Cesmm-soft Copy - New
It is not the greatest scanned document but might help in some way. My understanding is it based around a schedule of rates with percentage uplifts and deductions.

Am looking to move to Tunbridge Wells at the end of May/June, but need a job before I move! Does anyone need a hard working, concientious and punctual tree surgeon to work for them? Have CS30, CS31, CS38, CS39 and full driving license. Please private mail me if so, and will be happy to supply CV and references if requested. Thanks.
Try Down to Earth they had an ad out last week

The driver aparently suffered a punctured lung and internal bleeding. He was critical but stable yesterday afternoon.
Even after the crew told the reporters that the tree was a Lime they insisted it was an Oak (they know best).

The supplier will not know what the consumer will do with it, they could easily cut the last 3-5m off mark it and use it as a lanyard

A true character. Tears here. God knows how Colin Edwards must be feeling.
Yes and Valentino as they both hit him. I think Colin might retire now.
RIP Marco
A real big loss to Moto GP
