  1. Sad to hear this mate, thats a hard loss. Sorry to spout this & it in no way reflects upon your misfortune, but..ANYONE using a chipper always use a very good quality motorcycle chain and lock at least,if you dont spend at least £150 on them then dont bother,it wont stop a gas axe,but it narrows it down.

I always had my chippers chained to the back of my Vans, be aware that this is not legal and if Mr Plod gets funny it s a nick.

  2. Well worked out why the date messed up! cable guys in today!

cant get my boss to let me off friday, ask Dave dawson how much he would charge for this on a private tuition basis please and get a contact number off him.

thanks for organising this one paul, sorry i missed this oportunity, gutted.

    Hama

I ll be up for joining you if Dave will run another course.

  3. Life is Risk and Hindsite 20-20. Personally I am not a massive MEWP fan, they have their place. If the workers in this situation were to fall from this tree when climbing it the shout would be for the MEWP.

My point is we all make assessments of Risk, this process is to lessen the Risk you can never eradicate it. What we do is dangerous accidents will happen.

  4. This interests me because many moons ago I used to do surveys for T-Mobile transmitters.

    Reception can only be improved.

I hope we end up on the continental system where your phone locks on to the strongest signal available from any network.

O2 traditionally had the best coverage, but I feel this is now getting worse, not better. Nowt like resting on your laurels!

O2 are shocking in the Surrey area. South of Guildford you can drive for 7-8 miles before you can get a signal

  5. I have found that ALL makes jam up like this if not kept clean. I don t like graphite powder as the is an abrasion issue. I have used WD with success but I really like silicon spray, it flushes and coats the mechanism without attracting sh**e.

  6. No need to weld a nut on the ends of the bolts, just buy a decent allen key on a 1/2 inch drive socket, with a decent length extension that should do the job.

I am in Waltham Abbey if you need a hand.

    Patrick

Not always that straight forward, the allen heads have a tendancy to round off. The bolts are glued in. So be prepared to get the welder out for one or two.

A bit of heat might help and maybe an impact driver to get them moving.

If your not into that try Roger at Hempstead Plant in Kings Langley, although no longer a Timberwolf dealer he was for many years and his lads are very experienced with all things Timberwolf.

  7. OOOOOOOO Good luck mate, Felled alot of trees in the last 22 years cant remember many individual trees. However I do remember each of the 3 Monkey Puzzles i have felled.

Can you just drop the limbs or do they require lowering or throwing to a drop zone?

  8. It would make more sense for arb to have nothing to do with the FC, as arb is horticultural and not forestry with respect to the law, the forestry lot have already disowned arb in many respects in the past, about the only commonality between the FC and arb is trees and the rest of arb is just glorified gardening on big plants!

As for the associations pushing for association with the FC and mentioning funding in the same breath its just a way to get there grubby little mitts on some money and to try and justify there existence, big them selves up and further there oblique policy of quasi backdoor unionism in an attempt to have a “closed shop” at the lucrative end of arb to line there own pockets and that of whoever pays them dues over time rather than have the free market pick and choose.

After all the AA and ISA etc don’t speak for the majority in arb but they are so up them selves they think they do. :001_tt2:

No disrespect intended fella, i have stood outside the recognised bodies for years saying they are nothing more than old boys clubs, NO ONE LISTENS.

If you don t like it GET INVOLVED AND CHANGE IT FROM WITHIN.

How can they talk for the majority if your voice is not heard.

    .

  9. Firstly, is there a TPO on the tree?

Secondly, if not the neighbour is entitled to remove any roots growing into their property. If this is likely to make the tree unstable then she should inform the owner of the tree what they have done, then it is up to him what action he takes to mitigate the risk.
