  1. This must be totaly devastating to the communities involved. I hope it rains soon, there seems to be no other way to stop the fires. Apparently the flames are four stories high and move at 40mph.

My old man was evacuated on saturday, he s back home now but still not safe. the fires are moving at 60-80kph many are trying to get out by car but cannot out run the flames. and some C***S are lighting them deliberately. unreal

Not sure what the outcome will be but I am seriously considering getting out there to help

  2. heres a method i use for tying a rope off when setting a pull line. its sometimes hard to isolate one limb to send up a running bowline, specially on pines for example. what i do is send up the throwline into the crown and out the other end....then i send my pull line up and tie the end off at the base of the tree aboved the felling cut

The Aussie guy s use this technique to fell palms

  3. lol!

I used to use a hammer with string tied round the head... Sure that looked really professional!!

Have since used my trusty throw bag and would never go back...

A cricket ball and a lot of pull start cord was my first throw line. that was years ago now use a 16g throw bag it s the tits:thumbup:
