  4. Would be very dangerous carving with a 200t. Use a 170 or 180 with a carving bar/kit if your just starting out:)

  7. Hi all. I currently work in grounds maintenance and hold CS30/31 and doing CS38/39 in a few weeks, my queston is after passing is it best to apply to a local council or a firm? Also are the jobs hard to come by, and does anyone know the pay of a newcomer with this set of tickets? Thanks for any help:001_smile:

  14. Around 4 hours start to finish. You have to recoat the linseed oil every so often as it wears away though.
  15. LOL thanks!! No i did not take any before pics as it was my first and i thought it would turn out to be crap! but a will from now on..   16. Trapped indoors last wekend (and wanting to try out my new ray mears mora knife) i knocked this up from a silver birch branch. It's finished in raw linseed oil.

  22. Forgive me if this sounds dumb (as im only doing my cs38 in 2 weeks) Im looking at buying my first real climbing rope and would like to know whats best go for, a spliced eye rope or stick to tying a bowline to clip to the harness? Also is Marlow Gecko rope any good? Thanks for any help.
  23. Hi all, I will be doing my cs38/39 very soon at Myerscough College. Does anyone know what knots are to be demonstrated on assessment? Is it just bowline, prusik, figure eight? Also in the details of cs38 it says you MUST be able to identify Oak, Beech, Ash, Birch, Sycamore, Willow, Lime, Horse Chestnut, Poplar and others... Im learning to ID more & more, and have my head in my collins tree guide but if i give a wrong Tree ID on ass essment could i fluff the test? Thanks for any replys:001_smile:
  24. Yeah i have one too, great for back up but the plastic that the chain break is made of flexes to much so on/off is not 100%
