  1. If a vehicle has a GLW under 3500kg, an unladen weight under 2040kg, has four wheel drive and is equipped to carry one or more passengers (including the front seats) then it is a 'dual purpose' vehicle for MoT purposes and should be tested as class 4. So most 110 and 130 that are between 3000 and 3500 can be class 4 but only if unladen weight is under 2040. So if you have chip box etc your landy will be over 2040kg then will need a class seven test. Go to a public weighbridge get a certificate and find out you can t look at the plate as most landys have other bits bolted on such as winches steering guards etc. Like i said before many get incorrectly tested and it will be the owners responsibity not the garage. I ve had the problem myself get a class seven test and cover yourself
  2. Hi Mate your 130 will need a class seven. Most 110 also need a class 7 but they get mistakenly tested. Test wise it s very similar if not the same but may be wrong. It just means you are restricted to where it can be tested. Do the usual checks and i am sure it will be fine.
  3. Hi Saw Monkey send me your phone number in a private message and i know of a nptc assessor based in south wales that will help you out. He will either train you and organise a assesment or the other way round. Hes Bloody good, won t get much better. worth talking too what ever the result
  4. This is my 110 once the conversion was done(cost £1000 all fitted etc bargin). Had problems as the chassis turned out to be from a stolen landy. Had to buy it back off insurers and now in progress to get it back on the road with the new plates. It has a 300tdi on lt77 box runs great spent lots now runs on wolfs and g90s but will go back to all terrians asap.
  5. 01604 492644 don t think you will find much cheaper.
  6. Hi Mate try trust i have had great deals on public, vechicle and gear insurance from them.
  7. Jonnywinks If you have the money buy the sthil 341 you won t be disappointed. If you want to save money get the makita dcs 5000 bloody good saw will save about 150-200 quid if you shop around. I ve used most saws and have had the pleasure in repairing them when my students break them. But the two mentioned above are excellent and will not let you down. Don t know whats up with some of the huskys at the mo don t seem as good as the older ones. used to be a husky fan 4 years ago. Maybe i am just unlucky. Easier to get parts for the sthil and makita but huskys like to swap and change their design. Pain in the arse.
  8. Hey Rob

sorry to hear your quiet. i ve started up(bad timing) and getting busyer and busyer converted my landy to a tipper and just got a tw150 chipper. Only part time at college now leaving at end of academic year. Justin and i will be meeting tomorrow probably for a pint or two.

  9. I believe that the 441 needs a 7/32 file and the 341 uses a 13/64 file i may be wrong. If i am right the difference is only small .2mm or .3mm about that i think. It would not make much difference though its just stihl being stihl making us buy there files as they only sell them.
  10. Hi Rob its Blake hows things

  11. Hi Jonny I have been fortunate to use many saws, stihl for reliabilty is the best in my opinion. If you have the money for a 341 then buy one. Brilliant saw have used them alot. Ultra reliable and great power to weight ratio. Put a 15inch bar and its perfectly balanced. The 260 also a great saw a bit cheaper but not quite in the same league as the 341 i wouldn t want to put anything larger than 13 inch bar if it was mine. If a 15s what you want consider the 290. Another make to look at and not laugh at is Makita. This is what my company now uses and everyone is supprised how good they are. They do the dcs5000(costs £300-£350) which come with a 18inch bar and cuts quicker and smoother than a 341 fitted with a 15inch bar. Although the makita s are basicaly a re badged dolmar with a few tweaks and a touch of paint i am not to sure how longer life they will have compared to the stihl ones. Depends how you treat your saws to how long they last. Its all a personal thing but good luck on your choice.
  12. Alaisdair Landrovers are great and so are what the japs provide. I bought a 110 hi cap for £2400 from a dealer 18 months ago spent time and lots of money getting it going. Like all landrovers once one problem is fixed another starts. Just converted to a tipper and 300tdi conversion and had the relevent dvla check and found that it was made of 2 landys and was stolen and used in a burguraly 8 years ago. So the police impounded it now i am in battles with the insurance company to see if i can get it back. If you do go for one check it over properly go with some one, get a hpi check but don t rely on it. Check chassiss numbers correspond to log book and everything matches. Landys are giant mechano playsets and there are many people messing around with them. Get a good one and you ll be happy but do shop around and don t rush into it. if you can visit it more than once incase you missed something i learnt the hardway. There are many good landys out there they are excellent work horses and i hope you find the one of your dreams.
