  1. Ok...so i have decided on the Aluminium Distel,s....but what Gaffs? The American Short? or the European?? which apparantly go into the wood more easily..
  2. you are always fiddling with your wood Clive . i'm going for a cycle down the Thames... last night i had Sea Bass for the first time. Man that i some tasty fish right there! Had one fillet left so had it with chilli and tomato..with noodles and New potatos....that's how i roll on a Sunday morning!
  3. VERY Very Good! i always stick a treework vid on while i eat my breakfast and that was just what was called for to accompany my Sea Bass...Like Mark said..great soundtrack and perspective..i have just purchased a pulley saver with a Pinto rig so Pulley Cam made me smile:001_smile: Were you using Yale Blue tongue?
  4. Thanks Bro!... i am quite a physical climber and at 14 stone i want light AND strong....reckon the Aluminium has both...if i bought the Carbons, and they broke... I,d cry:(
  5. Aluminium version of the Gecko,s it is then!.....
  6. Ha ha Very good L.I.O.L.I:biggrin: Tree Surgery is poulated by two distinct types..People who SHOULD be in the industry and people who SHOULD NOT be in it....i only want to work with the Former:001_smile: It,s my life!
  7. Well done Mortar man!..this is an excellent thread you,ve done. I,ll tell you what i reckon when i look at this...I,ve seen a lot of fresh Arborists make their first tentative steps along a branch to work position..You have recorded yours with three first class pictures:thumbup: i can see that you are at your workstation ,two hands on the saw,two very well thought out Anchor points...AND....Stropped on for good measure.......and your visors down:thumbup1: This tells me you are focused and enthusiastic and i put you in my mind as someone who could become very useful...Good on ya lad, that,s the way to sell yourself. Let people know what you,re about, put your cards on the table...etc. etc.....(Start off with the basics...then move it up a level with Shiny things!)
  8. That,s very interesting MWArb:thumbup1: Thanks for that..i wondered how strong in comparrison they were...
  9. Morning Clive!...you,re up late..thought you were an early riser or did you nod off on your keyboard after your ovaltine? Been up since 5 am with things on my mind...wondering if i am a Grandad yet, what spikes to buy and what to do about my Job here in Richmond...Both bosses are non-Arbtalkers which is a bad sign...first one insisted on using his chainsaw off ladders,in shorts including brashing down with a 46:thumbdown: so i had to politely say "Thanks for the work but i will be moving on" and my latest local boss spends most of his time screaming at people..whilst footing ladders for him last week as he trimmed a large Bay tree he dropped the long hedgetrimmers on my head:confused1:...i shouted,"WHOA MATE!...what ya doing?".. "you,re supposed to catch them " he replied..i waited two hours for him at the yard on the second day....my alarm didn,t go off was his excuse..he will be getting a call this afternoon. i,ve spent most of my life sufferering fools very gladly.....NOT ANYMORE:sneaky2:.....Everyone i have met through Arbtalk and my thread have been so professional and friendly:001_smile:...yet local work to me still eludes me:blushing:.....I shall keep searching!!
  10. Just been on the Distel site. Aluminium version, each one weighs 1.95 kg,s....Carbon fibre each weighs 800grams! that to me is a BIG Difference.
  11. Yeah Moose i have to agree they may be ideal...it,s just that having climbed in the full Carbon fibre version i wonder if i will feel like i,ve bought second best:blushing: need to find out the difference in weight...it is the last piece of kit i need to complete my fully upgraded specialist climbing kit:thumbup1:
  12. Have to get some new spikes this week...saved up £250 for some if i get new....Used Bashlins for years which are great but had use of the cream of Carbon fibre Distels which are the ultimate...i can get Aluminium Distels for £230..i don,t mind spending a lot of money for quality state of the art equiptment but couldn,t believe the price of the Komet pair...£455!!!...anyone in the London Area got any lightweight spikes for sale...Bashlin,Distel?
  13. Come along then Ranger Matt...the moer...the merrier:biggrin:
