Tried mauling it Jon...hard as rock and with that branch collar no chance of splitting it by hand so will get the chainsaw on it and it will be ash by name...and ash by nature by the end of the day!

Jon, seeing as I now inhabit the attic room I have the smallest fireplace in the house...so even after I set the kindling etc. I'm going to need to process this Mendip-log:rolleyes: its a bit knotty! I'll go and find a maul.

Merry Xmas Gand. You aren't so far away..when I next go South will pass you then...This wasn't a xmas gift but a friend gave me a sample of something he made using a gift of his. he was the proud new owner of a 3D printer. These things used to cost thousands but now just a few hundered.Knowing we were a family brought up on LEGO his first 3D print was a block with our name on it.not bad for first attempt.

Incidentally that was my last day of drinking this year...and I've just had to watch my brother drinking all night! But alcohol is my demon and I feel strong not giving in. My life has changed since I changed my habits in a big way but trust me I will be drinking the whole day on New Years Eve.
