so i have to set the ladder at right angles to the first cut? thought so but was hoping for an easier way,what do you run the mini mill against to get it square and stright ?.

whats the best way to cut a right angle to the first slabbing cut useing an alasken mill,hope this makes sense

Just off google images mate.
Had a wierd email offering me 250 ton of beech near cleveland bristol today; all cut to 4-5 ft lengths I've replied saying it's useless in those lengths but wonder if it's a scam...
funny that tcd i had the same email and replied too,i asked to go down and view.will see what reply i get

I bloody hate oak. Nothing takes longer to dry and frankly, I don't think that it's worth the wait. Give me sycamore/elm/lime/any softwood any day.
Oak sulks on the fire, and needs nursing like a sick child.
hate oak too,got some stems been down 10 yrs +,bet if i ringed it up now it would still be sopping

i use welding gauntlets from tool station £3 a pair brill for blackthorn. as i lay hedges and blackthorn is the norm i find these very good not had a thorn go in them and for £3 can not go wrong. last a good time and once you have used them become easier to work in them. as for thorn beware keep a eye out and if it goes red go to doctor. blackthorn this time of year is nasty all the sap is rising so more potent than normal.

hoggs pro boots,comfy and waterproof ,steel toe,grippy sole about 65 quid ,look online ,had a few pairs now and used to last about a year with no maintainance,ex boot cant go wrong for the money,not chainsaw protective though.great for wide feet too
