  1. Thanks for the lesson on isms and ists! It's all a bit us and them though isn't it? There's actually a lot more to life than being part of a tribe. You should try to experience the world outside the pond, and away from the keyboard, now and again. Being in a herd isn't necessary.
  2. Nice. Cheers for the heads up. So it is just because he is not right-wing enough for you, how odd. Seeing that this post was endorsed by my bezzie says it all to be honest, I didn't need the content.
  3. What on earth do you have against the guy to cause such a strength of feeling? It can't be just that he is a "leftist" surely. There must be some history to provoke such hostility.
  4. The Fruit Tree Handbook By Ben Pike | Used & New | 9781900322744 | World of Books WWW.WORLDOFBOOKS.COM Buy The Fruit Tree Handbook By Ben Pike. New & used copies available with free delivery in the UK. ISBN: 9781900322744. ISBN-10: 1900322749 This is also very good. For a broad and in depth coverage of fruit tree growing. Recommended by a fellow Arbtalker a couple years ago.
  5. Yesterday felt really autumnal to me here in the Midlands. It's rubbish!
  6. Surely that's a spoof story?![emoji30] [emoji30] If not then the world is even crazier than we thought.
  7. Fair enough point on semantics there, it was a somewhat ambiguous statement. I didn't expect parity, hence use of the word "again". Probably shouldn't have said "shocking" though.
  8. Shocking disparity in numbers of fatalities on both sides here again. Israel intensifies attacks in Gaza as conflict enters fifth day WWW.BBC.CO.UK More than 100 people have been killed in Gaza and seven have died in Israel since Monday.
  9. At least the water butts are filling up rapidly, that's about the only consolation to this crappy weather. Important for those of us on a meter.
  10. https://arbtalk.co.uk/applications/tapatalk/index.php?/topic/125690-A-dying-breed.#entry1883366 You might want to check this out. Compliments to my good friend Mr Johnsond.
  11. Wet and miserable outside is a good enough reason for me too. Got mine on again this evening. That and a good old bit of Roy Orbison really hits the spot!
  12. Of course not. What even is Global Warming? It's just a figment of Greta Thunberg's imagination. [emoji12][emoji12][emoji50]
  13. Six of one and half a dozen of the other.
  14. Still lighting the wood burner on occasional especially cold nights here. Not too bothered about it apart from the faff of it. I'm quite happy to burn up the rat contaminated dregs of logs from this particular stack as I've got a load of cords waiting to be processed and stacked but currently no free bays. It was a record breaking April in terms of frosty nights and low temperatures so not really a surprise. Not right though is it?
  15. The scrap men will be in tears once your secret to burning metal gets out!
  16. A lick of paint here and there wouldn't go amiss either. Don't know what he's been doing with his time, lazy bugger! [emoji12]
  17. What a legend. Inspirational.
  18. Don't worry, I've a couple of baskets for my eggs! The majority will be under glass. Any idea why last year was so good? So far this year is looking pretty bad. After weeks of near draught we've now got bitterly cold gales, heavy showers of rain, hail and even snow today, and intermittent frosts. Lovely!
  19. My toms are looking slightly leggy now. Guess I didn't get them out in the greenhouse quick enough this season. So it sounds like given the dilemma between light and heat you'd choose light. With hindsight I think you're right. A lesson there. I normally grow only indoor tomatoes, to grow in the greenhouse. Last year I also had a couple of types that promised to be suitable for outdoor growing. I was skeptical given our British climate, but they were actually very productive. More so than most of the indoor plants. I'm sure they get better pollination for one thing. So I'm growing a few more of them this year.
  20. This looks really good. Knots 3D - Apps on Google Play PLAY.GOOGLE.COM Learn to tie more than 150 knots in 3D!
  21. It was the loudest Dawn Chorus of the year this morning apparently. I've no idea how that was determined. The old dicky birds were quite vocal here anyway.
  22. Oh dear. I normally quite like the guy when he's on GQT and when he pops up on TV sometimes, but he's definitely dropped a bollock there! He's completely got the wrong end of the stick and then massively over thought it. However, I don't believe it was anything to do with racism, he didn't mention that, even implicitly. That idea smells like anti-wokers trying to provoke an argument that wasn't there.
  23. That's good going. When did you put the toms out in the greenhouse? Mine are 2" tall and I thought they were ahead of schedule.
  24. Finally, some rain today. A joyous sight. Not so joyous was getting woken up at some unearthly hour by a blackbird shouting about the forthcoming rain!
