  1. This is a realy difficult one - I was talking to a big supplier of kiln dried firewood who confessed that the logs in the centre of the drying heap were significantly wetter than the outside. I dread to think of the cost of producing certified bulk tinder dry hard wood firewood. If your bulk wood was any where near 20% I would say it was a first class product. I know what I sell and if anyone wants to critisize it I would without hestation collect un burnt wood and make a full refund and suggets that the stove purveyor sources the wood fuel for it.
  2. The answer is around 42 cubic metres of chopped loose firewood - sometimes a few more rarely less.
  3. Looks great kindling - have you a pic of your wholesale net. Thanks
  4. Have you got a picture of your kindling - I'd be interested in buying some William
  5. £84 a cubic metre - 14 bags a metre - logs loose in bags - inc delivery and 5% VAT. It's frightening but the orders a coming in now. Last season everyone ran short of bona fide firewood - I have a feeling this year is going to be a bloodbath. Christ knows what the price of delivered pulp will be this Winter. The business answer may be for everyone to sell the same measurable load and as one triple the price. The multiples have sold wet crap for years for a very high price and people buy it. Devils advocate W
  6. Thanks Chris and Dave - 2 to 1 and 2.3 to 1 - I am only getting 1.8 to 1 - I think the size of log is critical to create max air space in a loose load.
  7. Don't think he's a muppet - Sould I re phrase how many metres out of a 27 metre lorry load. W
  8. How much split saleable firewood do you get from a tonne/metre of pulp wood - assume 10in length and pieces you can pick up with one hand if you're a lady. Fellow splitter reckons 48m from 27 tonnnes Adios WW
  9. Pon my word that looks like a bunch of c**p
  10. If it's good stuff you' re giving it away - how do you retail a large bag? do you just empty into the boot of a car?
  11. charlieh and mesterh - you can't be a 'yee ha' unless you fill at least a couple of the criteria. Having dry wood and no complaints i'm afraid means you are way under qualified. Are you related?
  12. Not wishing to offend -but a product that is properly dry of the species of wood advertised - invoiced with VAT sold by measureable volume would not have the traits of the 'lassoo brigade' - however a cash only no paperwork 'truck load' of wet leylandi descibed as seasoned would.
  13. I didn't mean to do it - I'm in self denial - it wasn't really me - it's th 19th November and I have just told a customer I have no wood - it feels like an out of body experience. It wasn't that long ago I started my business and I never believed this would happen. The firewood sellers with Stetsons and Spurs are going to have a field day this year as they come on stream early December.
  14. I'm just about sold out of dry firewood and so has everyone I've been in touch with. A cold snap end of this week with a bit of snow certainly wipe me out. What on earth is going to happen to the December demand - if it's a white Christmas ( which it will be) we shall have to miss out. Well I suppose you can't sell it twice. I've never known a year like it September got busy and it has never let up. I'm in South Bucks just wondered what other people have experienced.
