  1. Well, my knowledge inspired me to get the grcs and that gave me the confidence which got me the customer, I here what your saying.
  2. Ha ha. Which pic can you see the soles in? are you a sole expert? a sole expert? They were freebies from somewhere, no risk boots by arb essentials I believe.
  3. Mewp, ha,ha,ha! There was another quote handed in that was for a mewp. The customer laughed even harder!! It was actually cheaper than my quote, but didn't include any reassurance regarding damage to the wall. lawn etc. I got the job purely due to confidance that I approached it with. The customer was one of those rare but perfect types, that made decisions based on more than just cost. The crane was more expensive, the mewp was cheaper, I got the job. I've said before that grcs's don't get the job done, they just get the job in the first place.
  4. I drop onto the winch a lot, sometimes we never take the bollard out with us. Recently we took it out and my groundie decided he prefers it so now we take it more. Basicaly the winch can take it, but if your gonna be constantly dropping onto it then you should switch to the bollard.
  5. Read the first post crane nerd!!!!!!!!! As usual, no cranes, my only competitor for this job wanted to use a crane and block the neighbours driveway with it, but I could tell the client was not happy with this so was looking for an alternative method. I sold him on our method of "slowly but surely" rigging and clearing as we go, and calculated a price to be as close as the other comapany as possible. So we got the job at a very good rate and with no time pressure, only the weather to worry about.
  6. I see what you've done there, very subtle.
  7. Have you not seen that before? The truck was used in the Arb challenge at the AA trade show. Got a lot of comments about the shelf!
  8. Ha, yes it would have cost more to repair the wall than the job was worth, hence no "drop it on a sunday"!
  9. It wasn't SRT it was footlock on double rope. Only for the first access, no need for spikes when your starting out, and setting up the rigging. After that change the position of the access line, come down for cuppa and spike back up
  10. No, bulldog bash is a bit soft for me!
  11. Yeah, since I posted that, the customer sent me a disc with the other pics, I can put them up here if anyone wants to see. I think one of the things with controlled rigging (we are all agreed that gravity will do the same job) is that you can put the pieces wherever you want, even 750kgs of beech can be pulled to one side and let go onto a neat pile instead of being buried in the lawn.
  12. Erm, not had that much use for it TBH, couple of jobs only. Thanks for the compliment, you can see why I didn't want to re type the whole thread here!
  13. Tiring for the groundies, I'm just sat in my harness!
  14. Mines european no. 4. Quite old!! I looked into the chrome cover as mine is quite worn but it would be expensive, blacks not cheap either, anyway turned out I just needed new springs inside.
  15. They send them over here! Jap imports are big business. Toyota hilux surf anyone?
  16. The industry is screwed at the moment so they are trying to pursuade us to buy new, but your right, surely keeping an old car is better than making new ones!
  17. No, I think its guess work/experience.
  18. Its is an ugly beast! Apparantly its 175ton!! But I guess thats at zero reach, and american tons too!
  19. Yeah, its amazing what you can find lying around.
  20. Yes, this is Mike Poors newest machine! The remote controlled one wasn't big enough, I don't think this is remote controlled yet. As you can see it packs away really neat/small/compact!!!!!!!!
  21. This is a knuckleboom/hiab not a crane!!
  22. Of course, gravity is free!!
  23. And in the other direction you can just see another tree with same structure
