  1. i see what your saying but..... over compensation when we are talking about safety in a tree work e.g. using multi TIP's, lowering smaller loads etc.. except for taking longer it seems it could be 'safer'
  2. would it be possible to cut in from both sides with the alaskan mill. if the top is flat it cant cut in the wrong place can it?
  3. Sound like your saying if your stoned you are more cautious and safer
  4. i think its got a 36" on it at the moment. I thought that might be the case with the cutting width. I cant remember when i felled it if i had to cut from both side or not. Ill measure it tomorrow.
  5. Thanks for the replies and video. The Oak i have is approx. 4-5ft at the base tapering to around 2.5-3ft at the top and about 20ft in length. then two smaller bits that forked from the top. I'm from Hampshire so Ipswich is a bit far but thanks for the info. Ive tried a few local mills but they wont touch it. How does it attach to the saw? cheers
  6. Hi, I'm looking for a chainsaw mill to fit on a 066 a costumer has requested some planks made out of his old oak tree. does anyone know where to get one and how much roughly they are. also any tips on use would be helpful. Thanks
  7. i would say (IMO) most costumers would prefer having one company to carryout the whole job of felling and stump removal. it less hassle for them. I do more tree surgery than stumps but i don't really market myself for the stumps its more of a sideline at the moment. I used to hire a handle bar type machine but soon got sick of pushing it side to side so i got as old rayco 1620 but thats now seen is day and Ive just got a bandit 2100. got the first stumps lined up tomorrow for it. Its like most start up businesses, unless you have a contract you ain't going to be run off your feet straight away. it will take time to get your name about and for people to see your advertising and work. Good luck with it
  8. I'm with combined too . i think they are good as they cover you for pretty much all activities e.g. sport etc.. never had to claim though.
  9. 12k for a used one. I did look at the predator but they are all tracked machines AFAIK and that would chew up my clients lovely lawns to much
  10. they are £16,000 + vat new but i might be able to get one for around 12k + vat
  11. Hi, has anyone any experience of the bandit 2100 grinder? I'm looking at getting a radio remote version with the 25hp diesel engine
