  1. By a long way, Yellow. like a canary bird. Unless your on the rail, then its velcro riptastic orange. How did I do?
  2. In my mind I've already done it. Go and check, maybe just maybe old school flames are roaring up the side as we......think. This maybe a new business venture, sign writing vans in pictures. mmmmm. I can also do plastic surgery the same way. you look like you could do with alittle niptuck Chris.
  3. I had the same experience, the sound and vision of his fall haunted me for a while. Someone will always time such an activity. it's human nature. It would be a waste of time and a bolting door after horse has fallen out of tree execise.
  4. In the old western films there was always some travelling quak selling a cureall made from snake oil. That's what I prescribe. A litre of snake oil and four slices of dry white toast. You'll thank me later. Joints are rubbish arn't they? Doc.
  5. Get well soon. Hope it's not a computer virus.
  6. WE had a team in the woods. It was the very first day for some guy. One of our climbers had topped out a Pop, and had left a 35ft stem to fell. He was on spikes, but decided to cut a gob into the side of the tree near the top, put his rope into it and decend on his rope. Now this gob is great when the rupe is pulling horizontally, but as he decended a few feet, the rope rolled out of the gob and he dropped in freefall from 30ft. he landed back first on the end of a log. He bounced in the air too. Screaming, potential broken spine, it was fairly full on. I used to work with agood team, phone, casualty reassurance. then a air ambulance. He broke his pelvis in half, very horrible. I hope no-one will ever replicate this method of decent, which is why I've posted here. Also hope my description makes sense? The new guy seeing a grown man screaming in agony, never came back.
  7. By far the best signs I've used are the plastic ones that utilise a road cone. So light, you can hold the usual chapter 8 stuff in one hand. They dont break, blow over or bite your hands off. It doesn't take two people to put them out, great kit! I'v never heard of anyone buying road cones, like ever!
  8. In my mind Chris
  9. A saw fit for a cartoon character.
  10. all learning is good. Understanding the history of the top handled saw will give you an appreciation of it's refinement, this in turn will make you feel more privileged holding its sleek black handle. With this new found excitement, you will go forth and scratch it up with the best of em. Publish here when done please.
  11. `Climb and mewp' I think you'll find is the accepted construction.
  12. Thanks class. I now have my bluffers guide to thermal imaging in arboriculture. Mister T that PDF is not working for me, is it me or is it corrupted?
  13. Er?No. Not in my experience, mostly never actually. I hope our man regains his lofty perch soon. He on the talk at all?
  14. Bloody good point about risk assessment. Ones continued exposure to challenging climbs makes one more competent. Consistent MEWP use will erode climbing skills to the point of it being dangerous.
  15. Bustin it dawwg!! That ho got all the cakes! It aint no cherry six four, but its booty poppin enough for you righteous homeboy flavas!! Boooom! Init?
  16. Wrong hole.
  17. Change? Have you tried hormone replacement?
  18. Do you prefer sailing or yogurt? Each and every tree/job dictates the best tactic, it's not personal choice. The logic should be very obvious. What do i prefer doing? Climbing of course. Mewps are necessary evils, no-one in their right mind would `prefer' standing in a metal box to swinging on a rope. would they?
  19. Yes that has a good rep too. How much is it?
  20. I see. I'd rather not comment on this as He's not active here and wouldn't have a space for comeback. Besides your doing it all by yourself. You naughty boy.
  21. From the top down...Avid media composer, Avid Xpress dv pro, Final cut pro, I movie, movie maker. You can get a free version of avid, but beware, its a monster big programme requiring commitment on your part to learn how to use. I've lost years inside avid world. If its really simple editing and adding apiece of music and some titles (I know that seems like all there is to editing, but it's not) then go for FCP and below, the cheaper the prog, the easier it is to master generally. Let us know what you get in the end and show your stuff. good luck.
  22. I dont mind being the stupid one in the room. Do these cameras have an arboricutural application?
  23. Like everything else.
  24. Good for everything where you would use a friction hitch. But never take it into sticky conifers. Hitchclimber kiss kiss bang bang.
