  1. Ive demoed a predator and think everyone should be made to suffer the same fate ! It was pretty poor.... As for my carlton I should point out that in the specs it says 99hp so hopfully we won't fall out over that ? It is a animal of a machine but it will fit through the gap of a standard fence panel and is just under 6ft high. Im out with it 6 days most weeks so its very usable. Waiting for it's replacment at the moment a carlton 8124 a 173 hp of joy
  2. Spot on Lee, up until a few months ago carlton all belt drive, however now the new 8124 HYDRA is as the name suggests carlton's first hyd cutter system and at 170hp I can't wait to get mine!!!!! With respect to Steve and his machine at 50hp no turbo and the power loss through the hyd he must have had very serious problems with his carlton to rate the predator as a better machine ?
  3. Duh !Pics on video thread, promise I will pay more attention in future !! Peter I will be in Manchester next week thrashing poplar stumps pm your tel no and will let you know where I am during the week
  4. Which carlton did he have ? Ive had problems with vermeers and the worst was a fermex 7 mins from new and clutch blew to bits ! Pic of my 100hp carlton
  5. Used to have one on harness all the time, used with a 11mm static rope used it for light lowering, pulling back branches from lines, pulling up big saws would use it on other end of climbing line as hitch to get into spots to far for flipline where no handy re direct. Used endless dynema sling when using it as pulley to place on tree limbs.
  6. I ordered in several bits from b-trac and found it was as quick and as cost effective as the "friend" route direct from the states. Also you end up with a invoice to put against your tax ! They don't avoid any taxes it's in the price. As a side note b-trac did'nt go bust it just took martin wright 2 years to make his mind up to finally sell, great way to bolster customer faith !
  7. I'm sure the answer yes, but, I assume there is also a replacement planted nearby ? As with all prop jobs from small to large all opinions should be considered ,and I reckon this is where a fourm like this shows it's worth! It's great to drive past a job like that and know you have helped to prolong it's life.

  9. Hi folks, Ive already made a couple of posts so thought I better give a bit of background before I give to many opions ! Been climbing for around 18 years but stopped 2 years due to joint problems ( no not the roll up paper type the ouch that hurts type !) now only do stump grinding for all my old competitors ! Based in ireland
  10. Stevebullman, I have about 5 and a half sets of those guards, half a set went into the grinder !, They are worth every penny for saftey and saving time on clean up. My last job today was a 6foot dia. mac stump encroaching onto a childs grave and other graves I put up three guards in place and no mess on graves. I find it makes life easier.
  11. quick pic of my carlton in between stumps at US ambasadors residence in Dublin few weeks ago.
  12. Why thank you Mr Ed ! Now only 1,776 posts to catch up with you !!!!!
  13. Was having a laugh as none of the "paddys" I work with would work that cheap ! Agree with you roller about 1500. Sounds like the customer was changing his mind with every quote to be fair to all involved.
