Are you ruling out Thuja species .
Suggested that aswell, the client would rather a "broadleaf" shaped tree!!!!

Hello All
Just looked at a job. Client has a small back garden and the local school has just put a new building up resulting in him being able to see their blackboards and what they are learning, obviously the little darlings can now see in to his garden and house.
So I need sugestions on suitable trees......he wants evergreen, now at this stage I normally suggest Holme Oaks but his house is about 25 feet from the rear boundary, very small garden and where the tree needs to go there is a garage about 15-20 feet away, I figure this rules out Holme Oak. We are looking for an evergreen tree that grows up to a height of 30-35 ft max that has quite a spreading growth habit. Any ideas????????
Thanks y'all

Seems like coat talk is order of the day at present so to add to it a little.........what are the views out there on Swandri coats? Made in NZ from 100% wool. I've met a few people who have had the long coat/smock type affair and they've loved it. I know it's too long to climb in but what's it like on the ground?? I'm severley tempted in to an impulse purcahse. Ps. the new Ranger extreme on earborist looks pretty handy!!
So.....Swannies ..........good or bad???

Spent the last 11 or so years sweating my nuts off in the rain up a tree wearing waterproof jackets, ending up being about as wet as I would have been without one on until..............2 years ago. I found a black Nike running jacket in good old TKmaxx for 30 quid. It's either gore or sympatex, tuff as old boots, really easy to move in, tight zip up cuffs, vents under the arm pits, double zipped. Really good piece of kit, very good at regulating your temperature. i think they retail over £100 well worth keeping an eye out for. Will try to get more info but at the moment it's in the footwell of the truck mmmmm smelly!!

Good stuff people, I was begining to worry that we are all a bit scared of change. Change is good!!! Where would we be if we didn't embrace change???

I have never done this but when I was speaking to someone from Bartlets at the AA trade show they said they used baby baby oil in a 10% mixture with water. Apparently it suffocates them. You have to do it wearing only leather pants though.

In the past we used to do 25mm and up, but did a big H&S dead-wooding job 35+ trees a few months back and they were happy with and indeed suggested 50mm and above, lets face it most of the time when you are going past a small bit of dead you knock it off anyway, it just saves struggling to the end of a long limb to cut off a pencil sized piece of dead.
Sorry to mislead, not a job actually for the H&S.
