  1. Very impressed people with the fungal knowledge, in my opinion the sign of a true arborist. One question is there a definative book out there for fungal ID which is aimed at arborist/tree workers and such. What books do you guys use. Or is it just good old Roger Philips??????

  2. It's possible... After completing the planning portal online form there s an option to print off a paper copy - this in fact allows you to save your form as a .pdf... You could then email that.

Cheers do you know the link to the page for the online application on the planning portal???

  3. Is there a way that you can submit applications from the planning portal via email???? I find it easier to email applications , and have been doing so but now that these forms have to be used I'm not too sure how to go about it and still be able to email them. Surely I don't have to print them off, fill them in, scan them, then email them!!!!!!!!!!

    Any help greatly recieved.

  4. I've got a Nissan Terrano van. It's a 2.7 (120something horse power) turbo diesel, (same engine as in black cabs) It's got good ground clearance, pulls like buggery upto 3.5 tons and can carry a payload of 800kgs. It's pretty good but your looking at 30MPG. Worth looking at up against a freelander. There are some decent ex-environment agency ones out there!!!!

  5. Today I got threatened with by a neighbour of my client with calling the POLICE and charging myself and my groundie with CRIMINAL DAMAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The alleged crime was.....................................................................................................Getting dust from normal chipping operations on his CAR. (the sort of dust that easilt blows off with a blower at the end of the day)

Honestly I kid you not. I realy had to bite my tongue and found myself five minutes later hozing the motor down to try to keep the peace. I know I shouldn't have, but it's a good area with plenty of trees and cash, so I thought for the sake of extra business probably worth it. So if theres anyone out there who wants their trees looked at AND the car washed at the same time....I'M YOUR MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Normally when someone doesn't ring the same person who has done the job before and rings round other, it's because they are not happy with the standard of work.

It wouldn't be that because as I said it was me and my ex-collegues who did the work and we are all very professional so I can vouch for that.....more likely along the lines of cost.

  7. And at the end of the day, its your conscience. I'd look at things from the other side, ie if the boot was on the other foot, and make that call.

Honestly, if the boot ws on the other foot, I would be reflective, at the end of the day business is business, I would appreciate the call but wouldn't, by the same token appreciate have my nose rubbed in it.

I think it's tricky, if I cared less and could say "sod it, his loss" etc. etc. things would be a lot easier. Am I being a bit too sensitive???????????

  8. Hello peeps

Got a call the other day for a job. Went along and looked at it, sent in the quote and got it accepted....good times. It's a large job, 3-4 weeks worth in a prestigous garden, slap bang in the middle of the market that I'm aiming for.

Only one problem.... I have worked in the garden previously for my past employer, I have since left and started my own firm up (1 year ago). I have been very careful as to NOT target his customers and tread on his feet, indeed we live and operate some 25-30miles apart, still I can't help thinking that to him it will look as if I've been poaching his "high-end" cliental-which I haven't. Should I call him and explain, or leave it alone? I would rather not leak him off he was good to me as a boss, however business is business???

He is very sucessful and I'm sure will not miss the work, but for a new start up like me the work is more than needed!!!!

    Any thoughts???????????
