Don't know how recent your streetview image is, in my area the fibre optic contractors have been through since then and roadside trees have no roots above 400 mm 🤔 -
I've had one that went in, got all hot and puffy before becoming a lump that broke back out in a different place a year later. In a previous life it wasn't at all surprising to find a thorn rolling around inside a hedge cutting tractors rear tyre having been fired straight through the sidewall 😲

Many of the postmasters had to dip into their savings to make the books balance, who got to snaffle those funds ? It makes my mind boggle that this travesty could ever have happened 😡

I remember seeing the Victron combi with power assist in a canal boat magazine about 20 years ago ....... impressive but eye wateringly expensive (my slightly wonky memory says 3.5 k) Last year I finally bought one and added a Cerbo GX plus GX touch for half the price the basic jobby was back then. The technology has improved as the cost has plummeted. Victron with their attitude to sharing information and making software open source makes them an easy choice for self installers. Batteries are the expensive bit now if you need a good round trip efficency and want to run a generator for only short periods. I'd be wary about running a three phase generator set up as it does scream non-domestic and may not be permitted to run on red.

So once we are flushing tanks and changing filters after using duty rebated will the delivery tankers carry on having just the one meter and delivery hose ? 🤔

5 ah batteries in mine too and also surprised what it'll do. Use it for the odd bit of firewood cutting as well and think it feels safer than using one of the proper forestry saws on small bits, so can't see any objections to using one on hedges 😉 Talking about the top handle 36v

Two harnesses, three ropes. Stands to reason it's got to be safer than one harness. + the self inflating buoyancy aid .... the rescue knife for cutting the lanyard that is trying to drown us we already have on our work positioning harness ..... Somewhere under all the layers

That is a course I'm looking forward to, at what point would we go from full body to self inflating buoyancy aid and on to work positioning when working waterside? Realistically I'd hope that an appreciation and application of hierarchy of risk would indemnify us from any risk of prosecution in the event of an incident 😀 God I sound wet behind the ears at times 🤪

Surely in the view of HSE the mewp is collective, it should be in itself safe and the only requirement is to be restrained within its safe space. Arguably restraint can be whatever best meets the requirement, and within the guidance there is how to safely transfer into the tree. I've not ever seen any reference to a mewp having to be suitable to withstand a shock from a falling body be it human or a lump of rigged timber 😉

The chain brake on a properly maintained saw already does a good job and when using a sharp forestry chain will come on several times a day during normal felling & processing. I could see the value in having an accelerometer that looks for the activation of the chainbrake and if not defeats the ignition. In commercial softwood harvesting it is absolutely usual for saws to be flicked all over the place and absolutely safely, it would be unhelpful to slow down professional users to give extra protection to fools.

Obviously from my user name I'd say do you have a local canal ? Restoration groups are very aware of the need to plant trees to offset the self seeded ones that get removed during clearing works. Planting on the non-towpath side is good as they can be seen and visited but remain out of reach of casual vandalism 🙂

I wonder who does the delivery for your potential supplier ? . I am constantly amazed by how much information can be scavenged from the packaging 😉 The old safe system of supplying flooded cell batteries dry got properly scuppered by the precursor regulations unfortunately 😑

Malborough high street is like a section of dual carriage way with parking in the middle and down both hard shoulders, this church and graveyard is at one end. I've seen old photo's of rows of military lorries parked down the centre during the war so I wonder if the tree had damage caused by an enemy attack ? 🤔
