  7. Got a letter arrived this morning saying that my LDV van had been clocked going through the LAZ and according to their records is unmodified for cleaner emmissions. It was the 1st warning letter to be followed by a £200 fine I was straight on the blower as my van will come into play for them on 4th oct 2010 on vans which are 1.25 tonne. They said according to their computer my van weighed 4 tonne which is about double as to what it actually is. anybody else getting agro like this in 2010 will be hitching a large trailer on a tired Landy Disco for going into london jobs The zone is all the london Boros plus a little bit of the M25 near Heathrow Clivey
  8. I bought a rough cut mower for my jungle garden makeover jobs. Had a demo go on the edge of the site and it chewed thro undergrowth very well. I was going to get a D R scout roughcut mower (usa) but went with a (jap) OREC SE60 at half the price and far better designed. Very good trade show which will give you leads to diversify. I collected a load of info on outdoor play surfaces for a bursar of a school i do a bit of work for, and i added that onto one my invoices to them. Is that consultancy work lol. Best bit of show appart from being well organised etc it is free entry.
  9. I have just come back from my hols, i went to the Canaries on a cruise from Southampton on the P&O ship Aurora. In the self serve buffet area there were 4 foot high examples of plastic Leylandi's dotted around the walls in pots looked realistic i must say. On Maderia there is a bit of a problem with Eucolyptus trees. Back on the tools tomorrow, and getting belt size down to the usual position. Clive

  11. BBC2 9pm Jimmy the pig farmer has a programe where he is going round GB looking at the new innovations by todays farmers. According to The Times TV review he is up north on tonight programe and visits a farm which now grows willow which is coppiced by an inverted combime which the product of which is sent to the bolt on wood fuelled power plant at the huge Drax coal power station. Wonder if the wood chip power station at Slough will get a mention. Btw Jimmy does make some rather fine sausages i like the cider and stilton ones.
  12. The toms in the greenhouse starting to turn-anyone else grown anything which are doing well.
  13. Went on Thurs to the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, where i took the pic of some logs parked up. The Porsche is sitting in a contraption which lowers down into the ground for secure parking for poeple with restricted parking space in their front gardens then you can park another car on top. The credit crunch has not arrived in middle england yet. It was a nice "sarga" day out.

  15. Getting it back under control this is only 1/3rd of the length. Chips squirted with the vermeer throu the hedge and to the back boundry fence. (nice little dodge) If the govt was serious about carbon capture with trees they would be planting forests of leylandi !
  16. All hovered up with the Billy Goat came to about 2 sq metres of moss. I do the clients hedges as well. Still holding up well neat looking. Clivey
  17. Back on ground level a quick scarifier job on a lawn in the back corner is a holly tree that got shaped by yours truly last year. The snatch in the grass was quite thick. Clivey
  18. I have always used a Silky used to use a Zubat but snapped it at the handle after tripping over some brash one day. So upgraded to a Sugoi, and daughter knows the score and gets me a replacement blade for my birthday each year. Certainly notice the difference with a new blade. I alway wear welding gloves when using it. This is from experience.
  19. Here is a pic of leylandi which looks like it had the chop a few years back. Taken at Kingswear Devon looking up the river Dart. The old building across the river is the grey funnel line officer training facilities (dartmouth)
  20. Seen at Shepperton whilst on way to another job. Must be a tough little old boat.
  21. Watching england 1st half of the rugby against the scots. So bad I went down the local school, and gave a pint of blood. Nursey from the tranfusion service said stocks were low in UK and they can always do with more. Nursey went onto say that, as i drained a pint out in 4mins 50 secs, that i had nice big blue viens! Anyone going to do the sport relief mile, comming soon.
  22. Addicted to the smell when shredded up. Here is a pic of yesterdays endeavours 4 years ago I took 15foot out of the height of this one,and you can see the height that the punter can rech upto with the 3rd lidel leccy hedge trimmer. So this was a short back and side and a climb along the top ala Pikey mode to cut back about 4 foot of top growth. Upper sides generated 16 big bags of waste and tops shreeded up into 5 bags worth of woodchip mulch. It was quicker to put the side clippings in the bags than to shred them as the punter was going to take them to the tip himself for free. I use a plastic sheet insert for keeping the bag open and upright for filling and this simple idear has saved me literary hundreds of hours. (simple idears the best) camera phone pic Clive
