  2. I've worked with the timberwolf tvvtr thing too, the track idea is crap, mainly because as you operate the legs, the tracks tilt and fill up with crap.

I've used greenmechs for a while on the rail, but I do think the older ones chip better, the no stress seems to kick in earlier on the newest ones, also the two new ones we've had recent have been a mare to start when cold!

  3. They did do a hydraulic husky, in fact you can get the parts to convert them from Superwinch, but, when I enquired they said it was big money. I'd snap one up if I could instead of my mm, unfortunately only ever seen one for sale.

Another thing that slightly puzzles me, the h14 is 14,000lb the mm is 12,000lb I think, the h14 uses 8 base bolts and two front bolts to mount, the mm just uses four smaller diam base bolts. Seems a bit wrong to me, maybe Superwinch over engineered the h14, who knows

  4. Whenever I see a question about winches this is my answer. Superwinch husky. I've had two, they've been around for years, are solid well built spares are no problems, no brake to worry about. Just fit an Albright solenoid and your laughing. There also cheap cos most people think there too slow, they are a little slow, but the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. The only issue with electric winches is the duty cycle of them, there not designed to run too long at once. If you want to be dragging all day then you need pto or hydraulic, the h14 is basically a bigger version of the husky, I bought one to fit my 90 but its so big and heavy on the front it too caused me issues, so I've now bought a milemarker, all I can say is I'm not very impressed with the build compared to the husky, but time will tell.

In summary get a second hand husky 200-300 quid, spend 50 quid on an Albright. And your sorted. Also wouldn't bother with synthetic winch line either, a looked after steel cable is fine.

  5. Interesting to know, thanks for the heads up. I've started wearing a dust mask on certain jobs now anyway, including anything with ivy on it as it seems to cog my throat.

Yep you may well get hit by a bus tomorrow, but to be honest I'd rather get hit by a bus than lung cancer or similar!

  6. No, its because people won't allow them to be built near them, every time a company tries to build an incinerator powered power station people protest and lobby their MP's to stop it being built.

Were having one built near us soon I think!

  8. Orange

    NRGO

network Rail Goat Orange (not many goats on the net work)

the old BR then NR safty operationg procedures and rules require Goat orange to be worn with the neccesary number of 3m reflective stripes on legs and jaket at all times when on the network.

    Saturn Yellow pigment no A-17N

New road street works act & old chapter 8 . Hi viserbility clothing 'will usuallly be satern yellow' and configured in acordance with apendix ............

the apendix gives you number of stripes, arms no arms etc.

A number of years aago there was amove to 2 tome jaets as we were becomming yello blind. so on the HW by virtue of ra you could justify the orange but must have 3m stripes in the right places.

on the railway and underground.. goat onley baaaaaaaaaaa

of cource the other differance is yellow and orange are adjacent eachother on a standard color wheel

You mean gort rather than goat? :0

  10. Mine did too but I caught the problem early on. Took them to the local cobbler who stuck them good-n-propper. Any sign of a split now and I fix it with Evo-stick type stuff before using them again.

Shouldn't really be having to do that though, not on a near 200 quid pair of boots!
