  1. Safestyle want 2700 for the same but would of done it for 2350 if we signed today, but they did have a charge of 900 for scaffolding and easy deck! Included in that. 600 quid was for scaffolding over a garage! Hopefully a neighbours dad is gonna help us out.

  2. That's the problem, finding a small local firm who is ok, it's a lottery. The same as arb companies I suppose :)

     

    Someone did tell me to fit them myself, I'm pretty handy, but I just don't have the time to do it

  3. Sounds pricey to me. I'd speak to a few local independent joiners/glazers and you should hopefully get a nice surprise

     

    It's the same old thing though mate, never know who's good and who's not!

     

    Filled in a safestyle form, 5 minutes later they've rang up and are coming tomos at 10 to quote us. The problem is we've accepted the other quote, so only have 7 days to cancel if needed.

  4. Ok cheers guys, I was gonna try Everest too, I should say not bothered about paying a good price, my mottos buy cheap buy twice but at the same time its too easy to buy dear buy twice! Especially when I'm not clued up on this sort of thing. Price was actually 2900 for the four, one windows only about 1.5mx0.50m

  5. Hi guys just wondering if anyone's had double glazing fitted recently? Just had a quote for 3.5k for four upstairs windows, obviously price varies on size etc, but its two large windows one medium and one small. Wondering how it compared

  7. There has been an issue with cold starting on some of the Mark 2 machines which appears to havr been cured by fitting two NRV's into the system. Not all engines have them or need them. If you have one that struggles, call your supplier and get them to confirm it with the factory. Guards/covers are available to cover the buttons, this prevents buffoons knocking them off or water getting in through capillary action.

     

    I'm trying to get a loan machine for the OP to try, so he can have it for a couple of days, it is a difficult time of year because of holidays and shows but I'm on it....

     

    I have to say mind, it is a cracking machine - quick across the ground, it's ability to get to places that other woodchippers cannot, big engine, big opening, programmable no stress device, slingable, optional winch, optional electric hydraulic pump, built with finesse in the midlands! Have the factory tour!!!

     

    Pete if I get the serial number of ours could you check? Ours are hired in through, I think, hire station, who hire them in again through someone else.

     

    How's the programmable stress work? Is it something a user can do?

Yeah well that's the issue, I agree it would be a good idea to check there was oil in there, but only working with a particular make oil, then causing the thing not to run right with no obvious explanation of the fault is just daft. Even if it had stickers on it saying only use husky oil guard oil would help. One has gone back to the hire shop last week with the same "fault"

    Only that text part of the manual though, no pictures.

    But I think there's a little cover near the on/off switch that hides the trickery and that's where it can be disarmed.

     

    Yeah that's the bit we removed, but I couldn't understand the bit about breaking the tab off. But I found a PDF copy on the net from the info you posted. I'm still interested to know how it controls the engine revs though?

  11. It works by using an optical sensor that detects the correct colour. The correct oil has a particular dye to accomplish just the right colour.

     

    The next bit I borrowed from elsewhere on the interweb.

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Disengaging OilGuard

    (K760 OilGuard)

    When the machine is delivered, the OilGuard plug (A) and

    the blue indicator pin (B) are fitted in the tank.

     

    • If you are in a situation where you do not have access to

    Husqvarna OilGuard oil, but you have oil of a similar

    quality, you can deactivate the OilGuard system using the

    disconnection function.

     

    • To deactivate the function, pry off the OilGuard plug using

    a screwdriver and then break off the indicator pin. Now fit

    the disconnector plug © in the tank to complete

    deactivation and to cover the hole.

     

    • If you want to reactivate the OilGuard system, press the

    OilGuard plug again. The system is then reactivated, but

    note that the broken indicator pin cannot be refitted. A

    broken indicator pin indicates that the OilGuard system

    has been disconnected.

     

    • A broken indicator pin indicates that the OilGuard system

    has been disconnected.

     

    • You can purchase a new indicator pin as a spare, but this

    is only sold in grey which indicates that the OilGuard

    system has been deactivated since the machine left the

    factory.

     

    Where was that from mate? I gather there was a diagram with it? One of the worse ideas I can think of!

  12. If you still use it check that it has two one way valves, one in the fuel feed to the pump and one in the return to tank otherwise gasoil seems to drain back and let air in meaning you have to wind it over to self bleed before it fires.

     

    I don't know why GM's install of the v220 engine has this problem when other machines using it don't.

     

    PS also the feed roller palm switches; water ingress, vulnerable and expensive.

     

    Ps yep we've cracked a couple of those, but I do like being able to start the revs up to chip from the hopper, that's a big improvement over the older ones.

    To be honest with the original machine we just presumed the was a split pipe, that was letting air draw in over night a bit, but the new ones was brand new when we got it and that does it. It's quite a serious issue really, many a time our machine is left on track, and more than a few times last year it took so long to start it flattened the battery, not very good! Presumably gmech know about the issue? Maybe Pete will add something to this thread?? But its issues like this that give machines a bad reputation, especially in a couple of years time when the battery's getting tired, there'll be no chance of starting it!

  14. Ok so it's not really arb related but we have a husky disc cutter at work, tried it today, it started revved up for a few seconds then would only idle. So borrowed one from another yard, worked fine till we filled it up again, then the same thing, so obviously the fuel seemed to be an issue. So I googled the oil guard couldn't get much info except, your supposed to use husky two stroke or if you use any other you had to deactivate the system, couldn't find out how, until we figured out you had to pull a little plug out. So the questions is (finally!) anyone know how it works exactly, how does it know what oil is used? Also presumably there's a bit of a computer in it to stop the engine revving up??
