  1. Yes the 'blockers' are something else aren't they. I heard two women talking while blocking with trolleys saying "so how long has your hair been like that then..". Meanwhile there were zombies frothing at the mouth trying to get to their cheap fix
  2. I can see what you mean if the climber is injured its not a good idea to unbuckle. I suppose I was thinking the from the angle that if you just want attention if you see something going wrong on the ground or if the boss is spending ages petting a dog while you wait for a clear dropzone!
  3. I don't like to wear owt on my wrists personally. Was just thinking that petzl or stein could have them put on when the manufacture the helmet. Only a thought like
  4. You would certainly have to unbuckle the chin strap to blow the whistle but I don't think it would be necessary to take the helmet off. I can't really see any issues with unbuckling, blowing a whistle then re-buckling
  5. Maybe you can, as long as its not too bulky.
  6. Do they? I wouldn't have a whistle flopping around under my chin! These things are neat Rupe and wouldn't be noticed
  7. Haha, and those benefit claimers shooting out of their wheelchair to reach the top shelf
  8. Someone once pointed out that the buckle on the chest strap of my rucksack doubles as a whistle in case of emergency. My idea is that you could easily put a similar whistle-clip on the chin strap of your helmet to blow when you need to get someones attention in a noisy environment. Could one of you suppliers get one invented because I can't whistle very loud. Here's the sort of thing I'm talking about: Rucksack Chest Strap with Whistle - 19mm - Rock + Run
  9. Just been down to tesco for a few beers and thought I'd check out the reduced items shelves. People were to be seen climbing all over the place to get to the stuff. Talking to the lady on the checkout and she said about 8pm they reduce everything to a penny and people go crazy scrapping and camping out for ages to get their stuff. Now I like a bargain but its got to the point now where your life is in danger and its not worth it! I'd love to see videos on youtube or the like with some of these wild scenes
  10. MEWP? Possibly. Perhaps more breakage by trying to get the bucket close enough to reach. Plus they only hire us one when its payed for externally. Local authority you see. I guess I'll have to read the new 3998 to know what you are talking about with percentages
  11. Cheers. Yeah its pretty hard to do text book reduction cuts on cherry and then the bit you left ends up snapping as you're climbing over! A couple of fair sized limbs were taken off on the road side to get 5m height and an all round raise too
  12. This was quite a tricky one as the spec was reduce by 15% (I think!). Anchor points were few and far between
  13. Not been pricked yet so will be careful. Have yet to notice berries on it and I've been here over two years. I think there was a larger tree here which would explain the abundance of suckers just in this small area of the field. This adds to my free food though so I'm happy with that
  14. I think you may be right. I suspected that before but what threw me off the scent was its growth habit, as I've only ever seen it as a hedge or single tree
  15. I've got this growing in profusion in the field at the rear of my house and I can't nail an ID. The thorns are absent on the juvenile growth and it grows in long sticks, getting around 6 foot now. My photo skills aren't up to scratch but at the base of the leaf there are two little nodules. All the leaves are half eaten so I couldn't get a good one to photo. The thorns are at the end of the twigs on the older growth
  16. I think its helping my exthma
  17. I use a very thin, elastic runners skull cap. They are about 5 quid and I use it all year round. Fits very neat under the helmet and doesn't interfere with earmuffs
  18. I went to manchester on the weekend and bought some 'Chinese Tea' from a supermarket in china town. Its called radix lithospermi and an internet search brought up the common name as gromwell root. Has a lot of health benefits and tastes quite nice. I wonder if its dangerous to drink too much of it?
  19. It could have been described as a wumph noise. Another witness said it happened in the fire rather than on the hotplate. Scared the hell out of us though!
  20. I'm getting used to mine. Had some comfort issues with the leg straps at first but I do like the position of the side d's and the gear loops compared to my previous butterfly. The back support is superior too.
  21. It was quite strange and a first for me since I've had a fire. Was just watching telly with the fire on tonight and suddenly there was a phff sound and my eye caught a little cloud of smoke come from the stove and hissed at the same time. I was burning dead sycamore branches and nothing unusual. There was no staining on the glass but what I suspected was a stain on the top plate, getting to such a temperature that it combusted from the surface. I do a fair bit of cooking on my clearview and there are a couple of small stains from that I suspect although those have been there for a little while and the fire was only around 400 degrees. Anyone had a similar experience?
  22. So what kind of reversing manouver do you have to do? I did a CDL (commercial drivers license) in the US and it was similar to the B+E. I had to back through two parallel lines of cones, coming back from an angle such that you could see the trailer in the passenger side mirror (i.e the more difficult side to see). You had to back up to within 1 meter of a line of cones, simulating a loading bay. To hit any cone would mean fail. Then a road driving test.
  23. I saw a thread on here about this but can't find it. Can someone please provide a link? Any tips on the test would be appreciated
