  1. :001_smile:Well done treehunter. good news you finally got it. tell your mate not to give up and feel dispondant he will a get a break.
  2. We did think about hiring a tracked chipper, but we used a plain old one which was cheaper and got it down/up the slope using a hand winch..didnt take us long..were both ex squaddies so bit of hard work dont worry us. The bottom was a little muddy but the chipper didnt go down that far. Cross cutting the trunks was a bugger in the mud and rolling them over:thumbdown:
  3. were glad too Andy. Work comes in dribs and drabs. Nice too do some woodland work too , not working in someones garden for a change.
  4. last few days work, removing / felling Norway maples , hollies and laurel from a country esate in Suffolk. Client wanted a vista.First photo is first day, last one was last day.

  9. I got taught at college leave one peg at the top just to stand on when taking the top out then get rid off it.
  10. no rope narrowing Bob...its equal length all along. How bad does it have to be not to pass a loler? Apart from hanging off 2 strands?
  11. sorry its not 2 inches..more like an inch...im trying to get a photo off it hang on guys.
  12. I noticed on my rope 2 plucks on it. two seaperate strands off a 16 strand rope (marlow gecko) more than 2 inches a part...should i worry?
  13. good idea. getting your tickets is not the end, having a company intrested in your countined devolpment is a good thing. Ive heard off guys doing their tickets and being let loose in the world and having accidents and all sorts. I would love somone more expereinced to watch over me, this game is too dangerous not to have someone not look after you in the early stages.
  14. Im going for 39 then il see how the money is going before i do some more...maybe mewp and chipper or dismantles or all of those il see.
  15. Do you think they would have done that after me giving them the V sign..........turning there weapon on me yes!...but not lifting me into the top.

  18. Thats a good idea...sounds faster aswell...thanks Mac.
  19. did take a silky up with me...blimey would have taken ages to get a clear route up John. Once i got somwhere up i had to wrap my rope round the main stem as extra security due to the small branches to hang off. And that all got caught up. think at the end off the day i got up wrong ,tired, naffed off and didnt feel like today. Just one off the days when you crawl into a hole and sleep. try better next week:001_smile:.
  20. What a day today! been out practicing some cutting with a rope and harness and top saw. wasnt the best day for me..tired and had the motivation of a slug. trying to climb a sweet chesnut on a woodland ride with not many thick branches to hang off and more shoots so many shoots on the trunk , that made rope throwing a nightmare:thumbdown:everyone got caught over and over again! my question is: How do you guys / gals climb a dreaded tree like this? I gave up this afternoon out off sheer frustration and lack off sleep.
  21. Still is CS38 dan...i did my two weeks ago.
