Hard to describe the name as it is a custom technique developed for the film industry I believe. But essential we run two ropes over a V shape in a tree, and anchor them to a near by tree. Then we climb up the two ropes.
However, I need to get up a fir tree that doesn't have a natural V shape in the branches so need to somehow anchor onto it whilst still able to have a primary and secondary rope.
Hire a local climber for help , maybe you can both learn something from each other.

If you saw our deep fat frier you would ask the same question. I've had to practically chisel it off the inside of the pan. When it's been through a heat cycle or two it takes some shifting if you don't do it often or straight away like you do when cooking in a frying pan. Using motor oil is not a problem just that it is dearer than chain oil so why would you ?
It was 25-30 years ago , the engine oil wasn’t the standard it is now.
B&Q own brand oil , two pounds for five litres.
I can remember meeting woodcutters who used waste engine oil.
I’ve used proper chain oil ( oregon ) since being a climber .

If it's not sticky the bottom of the bar where it's most needed will not get any because it all flings off the end of the bar. When veg oil gets hot it turns into gum, tanks need cleaning if you store the saw and some mineral oil running through after if you are standing the saw for any time.
In the past i‘ve used new unused motor oil , no problems. Without sticky additives.
if vegetable oil turns to gum when hot , how the hell can you use for cooking.
plus a well sharped chain won’t get hot.

Been using Oregon oil for ever , only problem was with the ms 150 so I usually thin it with aspen.
i recently tried another oil but was too tacky.
I’ve tried the Stihl oil because of the 150 , but it was like water .
had the same effect on the clutch as well.
I know some people who just use vegetable oil straight from the supermarket.
i think sometimes the manufacturers are too obsessed with it being sticky.

Looks the business , affective upto 8 metres ( 25 feet ).
450 grams
is that heavy for a hook?

Iconic video again , you’ve done your fair share of work.

Decided that a multi pronged approach might be the best step forward to try & see if I can ease my additional winter aches and pains. So gone for a combination of taking Ginko extract; silk glover liner; or a nitrile glove liner (or 2) when its wet under my existing choice of daily work gloves. Then a couple of pairs of Pfanner Stretchflex Ice Grip gloves for when it get really unbearable/miserable.
This recent cold snap has already started to play havoc with me hands. The knuckle joints are already swollen and twisted, they look more gnarled than me grans, and she's been dead for nearly 20 years!
Keep the wrists warm and covered . Makes all the difference ( for me anyways )
