Tirfor only gets a few outings a year and today was one of them, A gurt stump roadside that needed ripping out and no space for a big machine or the Boughton, used an adjacent tree to anchor off and teased it out with the tirfor /mini digger.

Been working for a landscape company , two of their workers have just completed a chainsaw course . I think upto 30 cm 12 ins diameter felling.

They were telling me about leaving a hold at the back and were told to use it as much as possible

The reason was , they decide when it should fall not the tree.

what do you guys think ?

Seems to be the trend here in Germany.

    it’s called in German ,

The safety felling technique. You decide when the tree falls.

Any suggestions/recommendations of suppliers for proper Arborist First Aid Kits and for the Trauma Coagulant Sprinkles & Bandage?

Need to get a whole new first aid kit and my old one is now out of date and not really chainsaw friendly....

I think some kits have a self life of twenty years

088/880 more power ??? It depends how you look at it , on paper the 090 has 13 hp the 088 8.5 hp . The saws deliver that power in a very different way but if you adjust the speed flap on the 090 it will walk all over a 088/880. I' ve run a 090 a lot  with bigish bars ( I have 4 of them) and I've owned several 088/880s and still have an 084 so I know the real difference or should I say understand the way they act ? For milling it's hard to beat the raw "power" of the 090 .

The sound of a 070/090 is real good.

Clark cut and climb is the best jacket i've worn.  Don't be put off by the price tag, its worth every penny.  Maybe a little warm in the summer months though.

I learnt the hard , finished a job of in heavy rain.

I was ill for 3/4 days.

    no money coming in.

my next purchase was proper rain gear .

    it pays for itself.

Keeping warm while climbing in the winter is difficult. Cold winds for example are worse aloft

you can’t wear to much otherwise movement is impaired.

Plus if you’re rigging a tree down , half the time you’re waiting for the groundies

sometimes minus 15 here in Berlin.

No need to be cold nowadays.

if you have the right clothing.

Or should we copy what Wim Hof does.
