  1. You sure you aint Scottish, Roller? Cause thats just about the staple diet of this fcuked up suicide nation. Heart attack and cancer........are coming your way my friend probably a lot sooner than you'd expect...if you don't change your eating habits etc. You forgot deep fried Mars Bar by the way.
  2. More comfy than the Treemotion to sit in? Dont understand why there is only one sliding D??
  3. Ed's a gigantic takedown specialist!! He takes-down the list of groceries for his wife lol!!!!
  4. Very cynical statement Colin....and calling fellow human beings 'crap' is a touch misanthropic don't you think? As a Certified Arborist and member of both the ISA and AA I can honestly say, in my experience that the AA does a lot of good stuff for the UK arb scene. The ISA did get its act together in the late 90s early 2000s for a short time with the introduction of the UK/Ireland Cert Arb, and organising and running comps which still continues. These days I'm not so sure about the other things the ISA does. As for the AA running ads in the Yellow pages, its impact will be minimal as people are very fickle and choose their tradespeople by word of mouth regardless of AA approved contractor status blah blah blah.......
  5. Well done jp! That would have been my winner also. mattyf's (above)was my 2nd favourite.
  6. In Shamrock's Redwood....what do you call that steel choker thats attached to the ball? is it something called a 'farrel' wrap or something like that? Just cinches up and grips the stem real tight? Looked like a great job to be involved in.
  7. Cheers Bodean, that fell at the 3 minute mark on the first vid is awesome!!! what kind of tree is that? a big leaf maple or something? Probably the best fell I've seen on video. Would love to work in that area some day. thanks, gonna view the rest now.......
  8. What!!! even better than a Dodge!
  9. Hey Bodean, can you put your vid up on this forum for all to see? thanks
  10. madmatt, the Hi Cap Landrover? does that P reg have the 200TDi or 300? If its the 200.....hows it running? Is the chassis still good? the chassis on mine is a rust bucket
  11. Hey can any of you guys that hang out at MB's place post that video montage that Bodean did of his work? You remember the one with all the big trees being felled? I can't find it over there. thanks.
  12. Thanks for the info Mike, here's the ad - http://www.doublea.co.uk/shop.cfm?ProductID=938&Type=U What do you think?
  13. Steve, I have the magnetic beacon that flashes (plug into ciggy lighter), its lighter than the rotating light, just use it for areas where I'm concerned about public safety. Edenarb, I can get 350kgs in the back of Topsy, thats 2 builder bags full of conifer hedge clippings! I'd say that was pretty good, nice job on the Hi Lux by the way, I traded my double cab hilux in for the arborVAN.
  14. Yeah we have the local McDonalds contract(golden lawsons hedges) and I'm currently tendering for the Pizza Hut restaurant in East Kilbride, they have small cotoneaster boundary hedges and one huge Leylandii hedge behind the Takeaway bit. Hopefully i'll get that and be able to use the new cherry picker. Here is my first 'carry' now on light duty (hedge clippings) I called it Topsy after my first cat. Topsy was a great runner...still is. Maybe needs some TLC these days. Do any of you guys use 'carrys'
  15. There is a bottle jack thats comes with the vehicle, don't know why I need to jack it up though. Last month there was a new addition to my company, I still need to paint it with white hammerite, this little cherry picker cost me £780 it just needs taxed and MOT. Great for topping Leylandii hedges.
  16. This is my tree VAN, and I love it to bits. How can you not love my arborVAN? I can get 250 kilos of woodchip in the back which is non-tipping. Also various essential handtools like mauls and trench spades for digging up leylandii roots. Top speed 47mph, this is the ultimate in tree VANS. Can't wait to get the sides painted with a big tree, maybe a leylandii I dunno......they are my speciality afterall. What do you guys think?
  17. Its been re-conditioned....whatever that means? not sure about the bearings, I thought 600 was a lot for a TW as well unless its been very well maintained.
  18. Finally....the voice of reason.
  19. If someone was to offer you a 2004, 600 hours, TW190 for £8500+vat would this be a good deal?
  20. Bill, don't listen to Eddy Munster and that other guy BULLman! Please don't do it Bill, you'll be cursing that saw within 5 mins of starting cutting.......I've been there...it was terrible.... Max guide bar lengths in the Stihl catalogue are notoriously unreliable.
  21. Bill, Firstly, welcome to ArbTalk. Pissing in the wind doesn't even begin to describe how bad that combo is, the MS260 is underpowered with a 16 inch bar nevermind an 18 inch bar. I tried it once for about 2 hours about 5 years ago, bloody hopeless it was. I'm still recovering from the ordeal of seeing the featherweight MS260 coughing and spluttering as it pootled in vain to drive the chain around the bar!!..... MattyF is selling an awesome saw in the trading forum, the 288xp will see off just about anything given half a chance. Only £300 as well, cracking deal, check it out. http://www.arbtalk.co.uk/showthread.php?t=324
  22. vduben, This accident looks surprisingly like your vid of the Lime removal, thats what could happen to you on a much bigger tree. Cool vid, everyone and their dog has seen it. Always good to see it again though. thanks vdub
  23. Excellent work Matty, maintained the natural shape, very good pruning.
  24. I don't know what the voltage is in streetlight cables in the UK, hardly ever work near them and when I do I always get them switched off/isolated. Apparently they have no power running through them when they are off during the day, but it is not a good idea to work near them in this scenario as maintenance may getting carried out and an engineer may switch the lines back on. Does anyone know what voltage runs through streetlight cables in the UK?
  25. Is that a 190DH? is there a turbo version of that chipper if so is that it? Are the infeed rollers faster than the 150? 7.5 inch diam capacity? Does the chute ever get blocked? Thanks
