  1. I like the look of the bridge, looks pretty sturdy. The leg-loops also appear wider than normal in the picture, must be for comfort. Looks good!
  2. Oh yeah, well you should meet my wife. Or perhaps she only does it too me? Come to think of it, I seem to get that reaction from alot of people!!!???
  3. JUST WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU IMPLYING STEVE, ARE YOU TRYING TO TELL ME THAT THE BLOCKDRIVER IS NOT A MAN’S TOOL??????.............................................................................................................................................................................................................Just kidding Steve, I know what you meant. I daren’t say too much about this topic for fear it will come out wrong. However, I’ve worked with plenty of brute’s who have continually proved themselves uncoordinated morons who can’t even screw on a fuel-cap without cross threading it. I’ve always had reservations but have been pleasantly disproved on a number of occasions now. The biggest sacrifice for me is that of having to talk and behave in a more appropriate manner!
  4. I couldn't view the 3rd one for some reason. As for the rest, great vids, and everyone looks happy! Pretty gutsy move taking that whole top of the big Euc (first vid), glad you were able to hang on. Keep posting.
  5. What I dont like with the Jap motors are the pokey little beds. Unless you get the 2 seater, you may as well have an estate car for what little room there is. Biggest worry for me driving an American is the replacement of Major parts, about a week to ship over. Thankfully, so far, I haven't needed any.
  6. Well, Im on my second now and how no complaints. e.g The power of a Ram v say...a Hilux is in-compareble. Quite significant when it comes to pulling trees around! Economy? Well I'm not a taxi driver I'm I treeman. Each to their own I suppose but don't be too quick to pass judgement eh!
  7. How so, have you ever owned one?
  8. Madmatt, that sure is some piece of kit you have there. Looks like you could use a couple of extra lights though!
  9. So you should you big baby, you should be feckin ashamed of yourself on that disgraceful showing!!!! Obviously I kidding. Don't worry man its nothing, you can't expect to beat the weather, always smarter to wait till its more favourable on a job like that. Ive lost or postponed tonnes of work due to those types of circumstances. Because if something were to go wrong, ultimately, you'd take the blame. It's shocking how people turn on each other after a serious mishap, a real eye-opener, Best avoided! Try and get some pictures when you go back to finish it. Good luck!
  10. So do I, its a clumsy lump of a thing but great to use.
  11. http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-5475813839638130996 Todays job I think we did well today with only 3 of us, trying to make the most of our work ethics and equipment. Making work video’s, to me at least, can definitely provide a positive distraction to a sometimes miserable job. Today seem to fly by. . Enjoy the film, about 8 minutes duration. Ive just noticed that this video doesn't always work for some reason, keep trying if it plays up.
  12. Looking a little cold in that picture Jamie!
  13. Thanks guys. Although I'd say its about about 95% intuition nowdays. If I do make a hash of it, its usually because Ive thought about it too much. Same with pruning i.e. crown reduction, I find that the first instinct is usually the correct one. Does anyone relate/agree with that?
  14. No smiley, Doesn't sound very friendly!
  15. http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=1614700365654740112 Todays job, felling a black poplar. Video quality is hit-and-miss again, sorry, definitely not a Beranek production. Anyway, the job went well and we were finished by mid-day, before the rain came. The camera can go away for a while now until something a little more interesting comes along. Footage is about 5-6 minutes.
  16. http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=2572465679690814789&hl=en-GB Todays job. Pretty staight forward, perfect weather. Camera work is not the best, but then it is just a standard digital camera that I'd managed to strap across my rib-cage. About 6-7 minutes duration.
  17. It counts when you all get grassed up to the HSE, with publicly disclosed pictures and names as evidence. The crane operator could lose his license. Sorry, dont know a Maurice!
  18. Thanks, although I'm not sure its legal nowdays! One of the few truly peaceful experiences in this job. That and driving home I suppose.
  19. http://aolpictures.aol.co.uk/galleries/regcoates1/ Here's a small gallery of about 20 or so pictures, click on the slideshow option. Some are pre-digital scanned, so look carefully. I stopped taking pictures when I reached 21 took afew more at 27-28 and since reaching 33, have started taking afew again over the last couple of years. Wish I'd made more effort now but i had no interest at the time. Its not always easy or convienient to get good ones either. Plus, some of the biggest jobs and best treework/picture opportunities were missed as jobs were often much bigger than what was discribed. In other words, I was lied to.
  20. From what I read yesterday he was working with his dad and cut into his arm while climbing. By the time they raised te alarm and got him out of the tree he was already dead.
  21. http://www.thisisgloucestershire.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=231771&command=displayContent&sourceNode=231754&home=yes&more_nodeId1=231776&contentPK=17946075 Poor guy, anyone familiar with that name?
  22. I slept with a colleague….and yes it was a she. What can I say, she was cool, sexy and intriguing. Although looking back, I think she must have been at a low point in her life to actually go through with it. Leading up to the event, it was only a very small part of me that convinced the rest of me that it made perfect sense and was surely the only way forward in the situation. However, in the aftermath of the event, the consequences (for me) went off the scale. Changed the course of my life. A truly harsh lesson.
