Shopping at F.R.Jones and Son should save you a few bob. :001_tt2:

Seriously I think some of the overlooked things can save you money.

Shopping around for your insurance, keeping your stuff locked up where only you know where it is (robbery must cost you guys a fortune).

I'm about to look into getting fuel cards for the firm, you guys must use a lot more than us and I'm sure their must be a saving to be had here. Please correct me if I'm wrong, save me wasting my time.

Cheers Jonesie was a grand down last time I visited your store. Only joking- it was all nice shiney climbing kit.

We use Tesco fuel cards simply for convenience though there is no saving on the price of the stuff- just saves on multiple debit card charges.

This depends on the type of card, some work on a pool price and some on pump price. You will find people will tend to favour pumps that give points, BP garages for instance give nectar points but tend to be 1p/litre more expensive than neighbouring garages. Also gangs will travel further to a garage that gives their favourite points.

If you have more than 50 users I would enforce mileages being put on the receipt voucher as this can flag up problems if analysed unless you are intending to hand out tax free perks.

Fuel cards need close supervision as they are open to abuse.

I'm just wondering what I am missing- trying to keep up with the latest stuff but all the time being pushed to keep a check on our prices.

I get the thing with phoning round for best prices- never used to do it so much but the savings can be substantial. £10 here £20 there soon adds up. I suspect thats the key. Plus maybe not worrying unduly about costs whilst keeping your energy for getting good contracts/ keeping staff enthusiasm up/ trying to get organised better.

There you go- I've answered my own post.

Organisation is our biggest problem :blushing:

Getting to a job and the vital piece of kit forgotten, or the bit of kit left on site that needs to be picked up !!!!

Also, when the weather is like its been, keeping customers happy.

We've lost two jobs so far this year to people who just won't wait for the land to dry out a bit, but i bet they'd be the ones who moaned the most when the machinery ripped the grass up !!
