hats off to you managing to kill a 260 !!

the new work 261 has been a pig with its needle bearing problem so id avoid.

the echos are mean to be good but iam yet to try one properly.

i think on certain french websites the husky 346xp is still available, ace saw imo although ordering from abroad may not suit.

let us know what you get .

Less power but less weight too, the MS241 is a snedding and small fell weapon and excellent firewood saw. If you'll come to the full-on orange, the 550XP would be a comparable changeover. Or the Echo CS-450 or CS-550 or maybe even the CS-501.

When you say "dead", you sure it's not fixable at a reasonable dealer cost. And if the price is too high at the dealer, perhaps it's time for a DIY rebuild.

We have got a 241 running a 14 inch bar and it is a great saw, no trouble what so ever, if the 261 was the same but bigger i would give up my 550xp!

It is my wife's saw but i have been using it recently as it is so light and really packs a punch for a small saw!

What do you mean by died? I need a crankshaft that's OK as an 026 I have at the moment has has the thread snapped off by an over enthusiastic tightener!

It's been repaired but not very successfully, continually cutting out bits I think have been replaced off of a different saw air filter no longer stays on av mounts coming loose choke switch not making contact etc. Maybe died was a bit strong but not sure if it's worth getting it into a dealer to get it back up and running properly.
