Hello again peoples, This thread is a response to Skyhuck's (Tales of the unexpcted) thread on passing knowledge on to others. Great idea!!

I think if the Government (any) want people to work after retirement age, then it should be in an advisory capacity to pass on knowledge gained over years of hands-on experience. Too often (probably always) when a person retires, they take all that knowledge & experience with them & it is wasted as it never sees the light of day again. Little wonder old traditions die out.

What are your thought on this? Is it a good idea? Would it also help to stop retirees feeling useless & discarded after 65? I'd like to think so.

That is a fine idea, although as Steve alludes to, there would have to be a nomination element to any such scheme.

I been watching this at my work place over the last 25 years, Management continually miss the boat with upcoming retirees

They could always use me as how not to do things :sneaky2:

Hi Guys, this is exactly what I'm after, the pros & cons of it all. Funny thing is that I was thinking about 'electing' candidates at time of writing so it would help prevent 'know-nowts' charging consultancy rates for rubbish advice.

The number of times I've seen people leave a place with a 'settlement' only to return 3 months later in a 'consultancy' role at greatly increased salary.

Maybe even training for a qualification of some sort in the last few years up to 65? Not everyone can pass on knowledge effectively, so this would show them how. Thanks for the input fellas.:thumbup1:
