25" Sugi light type.

I will come clean and say I did not know that Rob ! Always used a Husqvarna in that size and took it that the Stihl was longer by an inch . Every day is a school day as they say ! Oh by the way op says he is on a standard 7 pin .

 

 

Ah so he did.... in that case double check the chain - it may say 84 d/l on the box but maybe it's 83 and this would explain things....

Yeah it's a 7 pin rim and I've treble checked the dl count and it keeps on coming out at 84. Very strange isn't it hey!

Hmmmm - I'm stumped ;) Do you have anyone who can add a drive link for you?

 

What chain manufacturer was it by the way?

It's mad isn't it! I've just got an 85dl made up which fits but was real tight getting it on. The shop had their 25" bar so I tried that and it was fine with 84dl. Here's a pic at the difference in length

The chain is norther arbs own, which there's nothing wrong with, their 72dl fits fine with my 20" Sugi on the same saw, and also fine with 28" on my 390xp. Do you think there's a chance the bar is wrong, wrong tip or something?
