Anyone have a view on the Eliet Neo electric shredders? How do they compare to the Bosch etc?

Budget I guess is around £200 (not likely to get that much use) unless a bit more money will get me a much better machine? I think Jo Beau stuff will be out of my budget?

 

The Eliet shredders are apparently pretty good, bit more pricey than the Bosch I believe...

 

Oh, and I'm not very patient!

 

Petrol power might be an advantage as I might not always be in range of electricity. Are there decent tractor PTO powered shredders? I do intend to get a compact tractor...

Why not just have a burn up spot and get some chip from a local tree firm if after some?

makes sense - much quicker to burn. Used a customers shredder, petrol thing and it takes ages to process if you trim trees or lower a hedge. Maybe ok for pruning off shrubs to avoid driving to tip

That's my thoughts, watched the video, well some of it and lost the will to live watching tiny twigs take an age to go through!

We did a job a couple of years ago where the guy wanted to chip all the bits himself so we had to stack it all. I'd estimate with the chipper he had which is one of these it must have taken 3-4 days to get through vs the 30 mins I'd have done it in

I Like the idea of using my own mulch though, plus it's nice to have a constant supply and not rely on deliveries. My drive is pretty steep and narrow so not easy to get a chip wagon in.

Hi all

 

Looking for advice on a garden shredder. This is for my home use, just want to turn hedge clippings etc. into mulch that can be used on trees etc. I don't need a 300hp whole tree chipper, but would like a garden shredder that will do a decent job and last for a reasonable price. Doubt I'd need to shred anything bigger than an inch or two diameter as it will go in the log / kindling pile...

Can anyone recommend a good one? I saw that Aldi did one for £60 https://www.aldi.co.uk/impact-garden-shredder/p/066926035804500), but that it will only shred 4cm diameter max.

 

I appreciate this is a bit below a tree surgeon style professional chipper! But hopefully people might have some experience of lower end kit too...

Without question, the best shredder on the market for home use is the Bosch AXT 25TC. It's got one of the largest cutting diameters for a domestic shredder at 4.5cm, and one of the most powerful motors. However, it isn't cheap at about £350!

 

The next best option is the Bosch AXT Rapid 2200 shredder is a solid compromise between performance and value. However this is still about £170.

 

But, if you're not too fussed about getting a known-brand model, there's a shredder by Dirty Pro Tools that has very similar performance to the Bosch 2200, but is half the price.

 

I'm an avid gardener so as you can imagine, a garden shredder is one of my favourite tools. I pretty much use mine every weekend! If you want my further advice on getting the right one for your needs, I've written a handy guide here.
