Pfanner Ventilator trousers

Hi all,

 

A few quick questions to the guys (and gals) who own the Pfanner Ventilator trousers...

 

How water repellent/proof are they?

How oil resistant/repellent are they?

 

The website says they don't have any coatings, so I'm trying to find out what coatings are missing and how they hold up compared to a "normal" pair of trousers.

Pfanner gladiator vent are pretty much water repellent-not proof-which means you'll stay dry unless its pretty heavy rain,ive some oil stains on mine so theyre not oil resistant at all.As for holding up,id say they are by far the hardest wearing trousers ive ever bought,no problems with brambles or thorns...try not to put a hot pole pruner exhaust on the hip though...they will melt-as mine did...gutted...

When you get the oil stains on them ( as you do ) it will water proof them a bit ...

I appreciate real world feedback.

 

It looks like they aren't oil repellent then, so that's probably the coating that is missing.

 

As long as they're water repellent that's good enough, I don't work in the rain, it messes my hair

 

Looks like I'll order a pair then.

I am slightly worried that they aren't oil repellent (according to the posts on this thread).

 

Don't ask why but I did some work today in ordinary cotton work trousers, at the end of the day I was covered in oil patches

 

Now I am wondering if I should have gone for the Pfanner Arborist trousers or the SIP trousers instead of the Ventilators (which are listed as oil repellent)?

They are a tool to do a job - rest assured, they'll get used and abused
