Todays job for Mike. I'd like to take the credit for the neat stacking but that was Mike and his wife!

 

How many m3 did you reckon you produced in how long. Just interested to know

Depends on you expectation of profits. No I won't make a fortune but it pays the bills. If I was rushed off my feet with work for the processing I would look to charge more but if you charge too much customers go els-ware or get their own processor and this is happening at current prices.

Not sure how many m3 the poly tunnel is about 40ft long the rows about 7ft high 1and half rows the the logs are 2ft long and also 8 half metre cages of small bits and we did this in 8hrs

First off I want to see how much it can produce in a day.

 

I might even charge using a different method IE by the 1m3 bag or tonne / lorry load processed. As longs as the wood is to a spec & not all hedgerow thinning's ect.

 

I do know that locally someone charges about £250 for one man & similar processor.

 

So I guess the same or even more than that.

I wont be undercutting thats for sure.

 

The thing is I will create my own market & will not be taking any of their customers knowingly.

I put out the machine to trade customers with them safe in the knowledge that it's going to cost them £10/cube bag. Most softwood for processing up this way gets cut to 250mm and we aim to do around 120bags a week with two operators and a client's forklift/driver to hold/stack the bags. For 500-600mm stuff it works out at about 150 bags for the week.

It works out at decent profit at the end of the year, it doesn't come anywhere near being as profitable as photography or letting property and it uses up a hell of a lot more energy, but it's where I started in life and it's what keeps me happy

So 20-24 (6 days - 5days) bags per day & £200 to £240 per day.
