I have scd600 230v version. Chosen because we work inside and dont have 3ph. I find it very capable. It'll clean cut 10" oak/ beech billets all day. I'd imagine 15hp+ pto versions would be more powerful at the blade and very usable.

I've run my balfor on our old (admittedly tired) Ford 4000 and it's frustrating unless you're cutting small stuff that doesn't need splitting or joinery off cuts for kindling.

99% of the time have it on an 80hp New Holland and it'll fly through most stuff up to 12" dia. without having to back off

I've got the petrol Balfour. Great on seasoned wood and green wood that's under 6 inch but have to admit disappointed on the bigger diameter stuff, struggles.

I'm surprised to hear this. I thought the petrol and pto versions would be very capable on full size cutting.

How often do people sharpen their blades? I bought a 2nd one and switch them out fairly regularly.

The PTO one is fine on the larger stuff if it's on something with decent power.

Not sharpened mine yet, think I've done about 80 tons on it so probably be due a sharpen before so long
